Debate? When one throws out personal aspersions as a debate technique, one shows how weak their position is. If you wished to be schooled in debate technique, I will gladly school you.
You throw out Thomas' stats like he has been in the league for the 14 or 15 seasons he would have been if he made it to the big show right out of Vermont. Stats can be manipulated to say lots of things, Thomas' stats would look much differerent if he had played a whole career in the NHL.
Once again, a GM looks to the future, not to the past when making decisions for a team.
As I am glad you are not the real GM as well. Business wise, and team wise, what I have proposed makes sense.
I think there are plenty of other goalies out there that would make that All-World team over Thomas. Heck, Thomas isn't even All-America (I would go with Quick over Thomas).
You gotta step back and look at the big picture with an eye toward the future, not the past.
I would, for the right price. I would split first half of season pretty evenly between TT and Rask. Assuming Rask and TT each put up decent numbers, one is expendable and can get a decent return on the market come deadline time.
Thomas- Olympian (backup) All-World? Based on what criteria?
Until Rask shows he is completely recovered and able to assume the #1 duties, TT will stay in Boston. However, this does set the stage for TT being tradebait as deadline approaches in early 2013.
While what he says is true, a collection of stars does not a team make, but it would have been more impressive if he would have stated it BEFORE the series.
Lack of fan support- perhaps a result of lack of on-field success in recent years? I watch many Indians games and it seems that fan support increases as the team succeeds, and declines when they suck.......go figure.
I have sat though rain/snow storms at Progressive to watch this team....I have also flown out and watched them in Spring Training at Goodyear. The team makes do with minimal talent on the field. When you lose two consecutive AL Cy Young winners, and are forced to start young pitchers who really aren't ready for the majors- you get what you get.

You never know, a Sabres-Leafs Winter Classic could happen, maybe if the Falls freeze over.....but then there is that Global Warming thing.....ahhhhh, nevermind
Parise could be an interesting addition to the Bruins, but they would have to unload Thomas to make cap room. It could be interesting to see if Chiarelli makes a move.
Yes, but I would be concerned about Rask's recovery from the groin issues. That is why I see Boston hanging on to both, splitting time relatively evenly and trading TT at trade deadline for more value than I think they would garner this summer.
Absolutely true, which is why I think Boston holds onto TT until the trade deadline and doesn't deal him this summer. See, you are seeing things my way.
Are those players more attractive for an immediate return? No, but as a long term investment, perhaps. I never said they were more attractive, just that there was alot of talent out there that was available, it is not like Thomas is the only goalie on the market. Therfore his market value would be diminished and her certainly would not get the kind of return that some are speculating.
Also, I am not as green as you would like to think I am, more of a peachy color.
With the amount of goalies that will be available over the summer, I don't see a 38 year old goalie, even one that has been as successful as Thomas, pulling in a top-line forward or a top tier defenseman. I see Thomas and Rask splitting time more evenly, still showcasing Thomas and Chiarelli waiting until February and making someone pay more dearly to get a viable goaltender for a playoff run.
