TCU could beat anyone in the country, but Cincy or Pitt couldn't beat the top three teams in the BCS or the top three in the Big 12 for that matter. Just because WVU did OU a few years ago has no bearing on this year. I'm not sure if you are aware of this, but kids graduate and can't keep playing after a few years. Teams change, kids graduate, players mature...

It's southern pride thing it isn't about institutionalized racism, it isn't about the re-institution if slavery. It isn't about lynching blacks. It's about the south being proud and not caring that the rest of the country calls them backwards or ignorant or racists (there is certainly racism, but it isn't endemic to the south, especially now). The chancellor is way too sensitive as is anyone who agrees with him about THIS.

I agree with that. I also think the fact that so many 2nd and 3rd tier programs get on TV now. There are so many games to watch every week. Back when I was a kid you might get two or three college games on in a week. All either regional teams or the elite teams in the nation. Now how many games are on TV a week? I think a lot of 4 and 5 star players are not as concerned about national exposure as they used to be. I don't know, just a working theory of mine.

Texas Tech and it's fans got pretty worked up for that game. The enthusiasm and level of 'geekedness' the players and fans was palpable. Everyone who knew Tech and the way they play football knew that wouldn't last through the next weekend.

They played a hell of a game. Just like Utah did in the Sugar bowl last year.

That just the thing. They are both beatable. There isn't that dominant, head-and-shoulders better than the rest, 'man among boys' team in college football this year. College football is much more competitive than it once was. That's why there needs to be a playoff.

USC is almost always over rated, but they always have the players to be very dangerous. I'm not sure that Carroll's "loose style" isn't responsible for them being a little unprepared for some of the small games during the season.
