Posted Monday April 01, 2013, About: Canucks talking to multiple teams about Luongo
Both Scrivens and Reimer have better save percentages. If the team plays better defensively then GAA goes down, save percentage is a real goalie stat and there's no need to go for Luongo if Leafs goalies are doing fine. Sure they don't have a superstar goalie, but they are still doing considerably well. So in my opinion Toronto should pass becuase I believe any deal would involve Scrivens going to Vancouver and that is paying to much.
Posted Monday April 01, 2013, About: Gulutzan calls out 'embarrassing' Stars
Glen is getting desperate and now calling the team out in the media. I think ownership sticks to their guns and he last through the season, but I'm betting a change happens pretty fast after that.
Posted Monday April 01, 2013, About: Isles, Hawks working on blockbuster
Streit maybe, but not Frans. From the rumors I read, the 2 guys the Hawks are willing to part with aren't that good. Morin missed 9 months with post concussion symptoms and Olsen blows. The Isles could do much better if hey want to trade these guys. Also Boston as asked about Streit as well so maybe the Isles can make out with a bidding war?
Posted Monday April 01, 2013, About: Interest in Clowe picks up steam
First he is not going to any west coast team, second I believe they are asking for a 1st round pick (Good Luck) With that I think the team for him is NY. I think Clowe would be a great fit for NY, bring some of the heart they lost when Prust left. But would he really waive his no-trade clause to come to New York? Now thats the question.
Posted Monday April 01, 2013, About: Rangers defend 'CLOWN' coach
I think most Ranger fans know there was no love lost between Avery and Callahan and that Callahan is one of Tortorellas boys so the captain's comments mean less than Avery's.

Not the case today, in an all day meeting about how to take the $1 Billon budget we have for the year and improve Washington DC. For gods sake who schedules a meeting for 8 hours on a Friday. I am in the 7th circle of hell, that or it may be Colorado's locker room. Either one

Look at that power move before the trade deadline. I am left speechless

A shark may be an invertebrate but still has more of a spine than Thornton.
Posted Friday March 22, 2013, About: Contract issues loom for Wild
This article is all hype, if last years Wild were in this postion and they made the moves at the trade deadline instead of the off season the article would be called "The Wild are Brillant", people are hating on the team for those contracts because of thier size but in reality the team made thier move early and are getting results. Chuck Fletcher did this with the Ducks. He'll make no adjustments to the team at the deadline and get some experience for the young guys. He'll probably resign backy in the offseason. And we all know by doing this the Ducks hoisted the cup the next year.
Posted Friday March 22, 2013, About: Stars haunted by Richards' bolting?
Just my opinion on fixes for the Stars. I would sell the vets. If they can get a 1st for Morrow, I would do that in a heartbeat. If they can get a mid-round pick for Nystrom, I do that too. If Roy won't re-sign here (and I don't see why he would) then trade him, hopefully for a 1st+top-prospect+roster player. I would hang on to Jagr and try to convince him to stay another year (and I don't see why he would), but having him there is valuable. Find a partner for Goligoski, through one of the trades or another player with skates on. Robidascould get you a #1 pick if traded but probably a 2nd rounder. Nieuwendyk has to be careful, a fire sale would send the wrong message to fans, and it would suddenly place even more pressure on the young players, who have been performing really well this season all things considering.
Posted Friday March 22, 2013, About: San Jose's huge disappointment
I am going to go against the grain here and not blame the players. I believe the players have tuned McLellan out. The backbone of the Sharks has been defense, and it has kept them in the 90 percent of their games when they fail to score more than two goals. But for the last couple weeks, they have allowed at least three goals. If thier defense keeps sliding then of course its over and Doug Wilson has an easy choice. Keep McLellan and sell of the team for picks or keep everyone as is and go for a new system next year.
Posted Thursday March 21, 2013, About: Caps hopes could be sunk by Friday
I wrote in there that we were playing fantasyland, looking at this in the proper light, the Caps should keep Alex and at best ask to renegotiate his contract. Perhaps drop the cap hit down to about 8M a year. Not sure about Delusional but I did drop my doc and started using these boards as therapy instead. I would also add the Coyote fans are more delusional than Caps or Leaf fans, folks that believe the team is staying in Phoenix ahve been out in the sun way to long.
Posted Thursday March 21, 2013, About: Caps hopes could be sunk by Friday
There is no team out there and I mean none that are going to take on that contract + fork over the cost of trading for him. But hey if we all want to play fantasyland lets see what it would take to trade for Ovie. Now we need a team that recently acquired some decent young talent over thel last 4 years, lets say Edmonton. To do these deal it would take the Oilers next 2 years of first round picks, Taylor Hall and Justin Schultz. Even with that type of trade I think Caps get shafted. Call me a blind homer, call me blinded with rose tinted glasses but next year I see Alex being back. top 5 in goal scorers and in the running for MVP. When Ovie is holding up the Hart next year and wearing that Olympic Gold Medal, we'll all look back at this and laugh at how silly it was to even think of trading Alex.
Posted Thursday March 21, 2013, About: Lupul facing supplementary discipline
Ovie has been getting alot better at his hits and people need to leave him alone becuase all those times people say he is acting for a call he isn't. The problem is that whenever he gets a penalty it gets magnified. Its literally been years since I saw him slew-foot anyone and although he is propelling his torso up which looks like lifting his skates don't leave the ice.
Posted Thursday March 21, 2013, About: Lupul facing supplementary discipline
I have been told that during the game Bettman was standing on a 3' step stool while wearing 8" platform shoes and that he was barely able to see the hit while watching from behind Campbell but that he did see hit, afterwards he asked Colin for help down and if he was allowed an ice cream cone. Colin told him he could but only after Gary asked Fehr for permission first.

In a perfect world its the Ulf Samuelsson award but at last we couldn't do that becuase just as Ulf was about to receive the honor, Tie Domi came out of nowhere and smacked it away from him and in the background Cam Neely was smiling.
Posted Thursday March 21, 2013, About: Caps hopes could be sunk by Friday
We have to stick with Oates, give him a full season with a healthy squad, a nice 1st rounder or two, a full summer and preseason for the whole team to get up to speed, not mention a player named Forsberg will be in a uni next year. Get the Ovi wedding done so we can get our lead points man back. ( Not really an excuse but hey for everyone that had to sit through china patterns, colors, floral, food tasting and DJ sampling) it can wear on you. Get the league to approve HGH for Green so he plays more than 1/2 a season and resign Ribs after you steal a first rounder from who ever you rented him to.
Posted Thursday March 21, 2013, About: The worst trade deadline ever
I feel with such a deep draft this year, we will see alot of trading going on. Teams that are 8th seeds that need to keep the home crowd happy (Jets) will make deals. Look at the players that will or may be on the move. Bouwmeester,Boyes,Boyle,Cammalleri,Iginla,Lunogo,Ribeiro,Perry,Gonchar,Morrow. The blackhawks are looking for a center. Dogs and Cats playing in the streets together.... Boring trade deadline, I think Not
Posted Thursday March 21, 2013, About: Newest name in the Norris debate (hint: PHO)
It really pains me to say this but I see this being the year Letang wins the Norris (Lidstrom) trophy, In my opinion the only person I see that can vault over him is Suter. But hey its what we play 82 games, I mean 1/2 a season for.
Posted Thursday March 21, 2013, About: Lupul facing supplementary discipline
This head shot was so blatant it's sure to end up on the league's how-not-to video compilation.

Lets make a check list and see if this was a BS hit.

Was the hit late? Check.

Was the head the principal point of contact? Check.

Did his skates leave the ice prior to the hit? Double Check.

The only thing Lupul can state is that Hedman did return but in the end I think he'll get 2 maybe 3 games for the hit. Lastly Lupul may have wanted to pay attention to who was in the building last night: It's probably best not to knock the block off an opponent when Gary Bettman, Colin Campbell and half of the NHL's heirarchy are in the building. Just saying.....
