Yes, Wisconsin has found some happy graing in the Buckeye state.
These comments are getting cheezy.
Time to Buckey the trend and moooove on to the greener pastures of the next artical, lest we risk fencing in the Wisconsin fans with out constant Badgering.
This has been milked enough already.
To continue is just plain Rudolph.
I am certain they will post enough in the W column to make for some happy cows.
Sure Carroll should not only be more familiar with the rule book himself, he should assign an assitant to review, summarize, and help ensure he doesn't inadvertently step over the lines...
...because with Bush and more, he looks to have gotten away with some major violations. They are picking up some major violations in other departments. The NCAA has both reason and a responsibility to put a target on his back and that of the program.
When you get caught on a minor violation you didn't realize would be against the rules like the consultant incident, the answer is to come clean saying "Yes, he did. We didn't realize it was agaisnt the rules. He ws just a friend watching practice. Blah blah blah." Denying to the end only worsens the situation - who knows what else they will dig up as they go looking.
Carroll needs to recognize this and respond accordingly, because his current path could land him and his program with some major infractions.
...and nice comment piratey
Oh, wait - this is the other Kansas. Never mind.
The BCS can expand to 7 or contract to 5 teams based on the criteria.
The 3 criteria are evaluated based on the results after each season:
-Highest rated conference team in the BCS polls
-Average BCS rating of the entire conference
-Average conference rating in the BCS computer polls
They didn't list more, but I suspect the minimal threshold would require them to outperform at least 1 other conference:
- higher in 2 of the 3 criteria in 2 of the 4 years
- higher in at least 6 of the 12 criteria (3 criteria times 4 years)
*compared to a single BCS conference (can't just outpace the worse conference on individual years).
...then they have to hope the BCS goes to 7 teams and not constrict to just 5.
Realistically, I don't think they are close yet.
$50,000 per athlete is a bit misleading. It is based on the number of recruits signed, not the number visited.
If the average signed athlete visits and is visited by 5 programs (a likely low estiate) it drops th $10,000 per athlete (not counting visits to athlete's homes that do not visit the program).
If you count airfare, lodging, etc. for hosting a recruit and family, and add a handfull of visits by several coaches, $10K doesn't go very far.
How bad does your team have to be to begin to introduce intelligance, grades, Rhodes Shcolars, and graduation rate to get talking points?
tSUN was in the position they were last year because of RR mistakes (beginning with betting the season he could convince TP to change his commitment, leaving him considering moving a TB to QB).
I see no problem with the players sending some joke messages - I doubt TP cared, and I do think the 2008 UofM squad had a reason... they would have had much more success had TP chosen tSUN.
tSUN is more than a year away from competing for the conference title again - bowl elgibility is a better goal for 2009... were you the same guys predicting them to finish in the top 3 or 4 in the B10 in 2008?
...and no, TP did not expect to start. The current starter was a top returning QB, behind which was a couple of 4 star recruits in their 4th year (I think). He was discussing a willingness to RS his FR year before signing. In fact, he was so confident he didn't have a chance to start he stayed in HS to play BB rather than start college early and attend spring practice.
Still, strange to see a 4 star position 9 ranked MLB have their scholarship offer yanked, so some program will swoop in and pick him up fast... I just hope it is an SEC east team :)
...just a high schooler and he already has the worst pro athlete attitude.
No idea of his talent, but this kid is really full of himself...
...those suckers must have weighed 200 lbs!
The upside is that he has developed these athletes and gotten results beyond their recruiting class. Part of this is fitting his scheme to the best athletes hee can get, not recruiting for a particular scheme.
In the NFL, this is what the Browns need. He won't face his recruiting downside.
Now I know why the GOP lost control of the White House, House, and Senate. With priorities like this they won't gain them back soon.
What is on next week's agenda - a bill against cloudy weather?
How exactly does one blow this out of proportion?
This is bad. This is ugly.
BYU Hall of Fame is about more than FB performance, it is also about FB performance while following a lifestyle promoted by the college.
The Mormon lifestyle would drive me frelling nuts, but the standards they set for their Hall of Fame is their business, not ours.
Isn't it about time more colleges paid as much recognition to conduct off the field and non-athleytic standards as performance on it?
They are having great success with their current coaching staff - they aren't going to break them up.
The objective is to get a stop or let their opponent score quickly, allowing their O back on the field. Whoever has the ball last wins.
...and I wouldn't say this if I didn't have some comparison stats outside the conference to back it up. 7 of their OOC games against the rest of the major 6 conferences had their best or 2nd highest game passing yards against the Big 12. It is not just the Big 12 QBs, QBs around the country are having productive days against B12 porous DBs.
Naving this happen does not make Rutgers a big-time football program.
It does threaten to throttle and likely recerse their rise.
Pitt needs a change, but the 2 deep roster isn't where the change needs to occur.
