Posted Tuesday August 18, 2009, About: Sister: Wife forgives Pitino
If the Pitinos are 'happily married' it's because they are not together and haven't been for years. There are very likely to be several more shoes to drop. Mr. Sypher comes off as the lowest kind of lackey, the "UL" family run like the a medieval court. Kind of puts Tubby in a different light, except he always was in a different light. Pitino's sands have a year to run, at best.

I'm a UK fan, mixed on Gillispie. This is ridiculous. It should be outlawed by the NCAA.
Posted Friday April 18, 2008, About: Recruit: Vols should not worry
Tubby choosing Joe Crawford and Ramel Bradley over Lofton was bourn out this year, they were better players than Lofton as seniors, and had a better tournament. Lofton wasn't even an effective decoy against Louisville. Can the bashing stop at last, particularly as Gillispie's recruiting class this year is inferior to any Tubby assembled in his ten years.

If Gillispie loses Jasper - and the murderous practices and the prosper of more injuries have to be a factor - next year could be bleak. Tough isn't everything.
Posted Thursday April 17, 2008, About: More trouble for Hoosiers program?
What a mess. Indiana administrations haven't made a good decision since Knight was booted. That was overdue. You see how he thanked Texas Tech for their faith in him. As a Kentucky fan, it takes out a rival, but if I was an IU fan I'd be checking out Ball State.
Posted Thursday April 10, 2008, About: Did Calipari blow timeout?
Calipari, in his language, made it clear he was trying to run out the clock - not win the game. There's a difference. Teams rarely succeed running out the clock against a high level opponent.

One thing I've never understood, too - if the trailing team is fouling to trade two (or less) points for a three on their end, then why shouldn't the leading team foul late and force the trailing team to shoot free throws? Not right for some games, but had Memphis done that in the last two minutes, they would have still won even if Kansas hit them all. A nine point lead with two minutes to go - it was the biggest choke in tournament history, bar none. Yes, I know that isn't running out the clock. That's the point. Up six with a minute plus it's a winning strategy.
Posted Wednesday April 09, 2008, About: Why Self won't quash OSU rumors
Security is someone afraid of losing their house because of the mortgage scam. Not some basketball coach who has a five year multi-million dollar deal looking for more. The Final Four was boring because it was a bunch of jerks jockeying for more money and nothing more. I wish Davidson had made it, that's college basketball.
Posted Saturday April 05, 2008, About: CBS's Billy Packer calling it quits?
At least tonight he and Nance didn't sound bored - after all, North Carolina and UCLA were playing, so the game wasn't beneath them. Monday, may be a problem.

The only surprising thing I ever heard Packer say was that the Kansas/NC was over with 25 min. to go - and he proved to be wrong. As usual.
Posted Sunday December 09, 2007, About: Tubby's secret recruiting weapon
This is one UK fan happy to see Tubby doing as well as I thought he would. The idiots who drove him out - chiefly their effect on Barnhardt who demanded humiliating conditions for a coach of Tubby's stature, firing his staff, and a or else year - have done real damage to the program. My loyalties are at best divided. The winning is everything mentality almost completely destroyed the program before. I hope Gillispie doesn't cross a line under that stupid pressure. As a white Lexington native I can tell you race was a factor with the loudest bunch, and it was there from the start. Minnesota has its problems too, but both schools are lucky Tubby has been a part of their programs.
Posted Tuesday October 30, 2007, About: Tubby luring recruits to Gophers
Tubby was not only a great coach he was a great boon to the UK region, better for the state than the governor (by miles); this is from a native white Lexingtonian, in case that's of interest. Should he play UK I might root for him, that's how good he was and is. Gillispie is a great coach too, as good? Remains to be seen. He's a child as a person though, an obsessed teenager who has already weakened the schedule and shown little community activity. He knows winning is everything - look what happened to his predecessor. Tubby got fed up with the nonsense of UK basketball, which seems to be inseparable from the good. A shame; I'm a two team fan now.
