Posted Sunday November 22, 2009, About: Yankees, Red Sox to fight for Lackey?
Lackey is Beckett's equal? He has a World Series MVP and has won more than three big playoffs games when his team HAD to win? Beckett has his ups and downs but he is a big game pitcher who comes through more often than not when the pressure is on....not so sure you can say the same about Lackey yet

Yankee fans kind of see things as they want to see them
Posted Sunday November 22, 2009, About: Yankees keeping eye on Halladay
Notice how Yankee fans are the only ones who actually try to argue that they are good for the game. When you come back to the planet called reality, give me a call

I agree....Buyer beware with Lackey. he is not a #1 guy, so you can't pay him like one. I would not give him a Burnett contract because I don't think he or Burnett should be paid like that

I know that it's life...I know that it isn't fair...I understand that. So do most other MLB fans. That's why they want a salary cap. Steinbrenner can pay the highest salaries AND still make a profit because of his market. Trust me, ole Georgie would NEVER lose money just so he could provide Yankee fans with a winner...don't kid yourself. Who else can go toe to toe with the Yankees and still make profit? I don't know....I'm not an accountant for them and you probably aren't either.

Typical Yankee optimism....come on, lets get serious. New York, Boston, Chicago and L.A. will ALWAYS have an advantage over smaller market teams. Before you throw back at me the whole revenue sharing angle, that only contributes like $4 million a year to a team like the Pirates or Royals....how is $4 million going to change them into a contender? Face it....smaller teams have to be very good at scouting/player development (like the Marlins) or simply get lucky by having a bunch of small free agent signings that all pan out like some kind of Perfect Storm. The Yankees and Sox can afford to swing and miss in free agency...they can always sign somebody else to replace the guy that didn't produce. So if the Reds sign Matt Holliday, John Lackey and Chone Figgins, does that mean that they will sell out every game? When they don't, they will will have to trade them all away because they won't have the revenue to pay them. I would like to see Cashman and Epstein have to work with a $50 million payroll and see how many AL East titles they win

You could resurrect Mickey Mantle, Ty Cobb and Cy Young and still not sell out Pirates and Royals games

The only pitcher I would give a max contract to is King Felix...he is young and still improving. You don't know when Halladay or Lee will start to break down.

I think they showed Royals and Pirates games to Taliban prisoners in Guantanamo as a means of torture

Yeah....and if I could somehow get Megan Fox on the cheap

How would he have helped? The Patriots needed a pash rush to get to Manning. That was never Seymour's speciality....he is more of a run stopper. I think the trade is great. They get a high (likely) 1st round pick in a year where there is a great chance there is a rookie salary scale. They have not missed Seymour much at all this year. They miss a bonefide pass rusher....something a lot of teams are looking for

His retirement is LONG overdue. He has lost control of the program and he doesn't seem to realize it...reminds me of Reagan in the last two years of his presidency
Posted Monday November 16, 2009, About: Will Pats fans forgive Belichick gaffe?
I don't have a problem with the decision to go for it....I have a problem with the play they called to get it. You have to go at least three yards past the 1st down marker to make sure you will get it. And if you are going to go for it on 4th, why not run for it on 3rd and 2? Heck, if they wanted to be aggressive with their offense they could have gone for the TD instead of the FG when they were up 10 in the 4th....they could have made it a three score game. Don't even get me started about the wasted TO's. Bellichick always seems to call TO's at strange times and last night was no exception

I tried rooting for the Redskins as well....that doesn't work either

Trade him to the Pirates so they can trade him at the deadline for a bag of peanuts

Of course you would, you're a Yankee homer
