The central issue is timing. With the economy the way it is few people, outside of union or business partisans, will come away feeling good about millionaires and billionaires arguing over money.
The NFL isn't a cotton mill or a sweatshop. The average salary in the NFL is absurdly high compared to people who work in places that made unions necessary. It's an affront to workers to have to hear players poor mouthing themselves.
Are the owners fair? In comparison to the owners of mills and such, yes. Both sides earn more than enough to live comfortably.
What this is doing is driving a bigger wedge between voters and unions. Even the most liberal states are starting to fight unions and they use the NFLPA as an example of greed. Few care about the owners because they don't "play the game." Fans feel an affinity with the players and to see them whining over money when the average fan is struggling to buy a single game ticket.
Both sides are embarrassing. They are tarnishing the worlds greatest game and are too stupid with greed to realize it. Football isn't a necessity in life. It is a sport, a side show. Screaming about unfair labor practices is insulting.
Dalton will be on the field early and on his back often in that division. No one knows how he will turn out but he doesn't strike me as a quitter. Though it would terrible to be drafted by Cincy.
The Falcons are tough and if Jones is as advertised he will help them. But at some point they have to shut down the opponent and they have mortgaged their ability to build the defense.
They will bring in a veteran but when you grab Locker that early in the draft you can't sit him forever. If they lose three or four in a row fans will be screaming for Jake.
Jeff Fisher was smart enough to get himself out of this Titanic mess.
It's sad it has to be said but that guy is an infantile mind inside of an adult body. Best thing to do is ignore him from now on because he only gets read when he makes outrageous claims.
There's a name educated African Americans use for people like this "ZuluBeat", who, more than likely, doesn't know the first thing about Zulu's. Keep hanging on the end of excuses "Mr. 3%."
Unlike you, young man, I grew up in an era of overt racism. I saw it, was a victim of it and will never feel the need to defend my ethnicity to someone with the IQ of a roach. What my life has taught me is that all of us should judge people not on skin color but on ability. You point out stats. If one were merely to look at stats then Chang, Detmer and Klngler would be "NFL stars" but they aren't. They couldn't cut it. The fact that you use race is demeaning to everyone. No NFL team is going to sacrifice the glory-and money-of winning a Super Bowl by not drafting a great QB. Wake up.
Of course there is racism but people have grown tired of hearing about it because laggards like you use it to explain away failure. You are as wrong as any overt white racist who ever lived. You are a race pimp and because of it African Americans who actually work hard, like myself, have to listen to how we get "advantages" because people like you cannot compete.
Though racism exists, spare me the hand me down talk of over racism among quarterbacks. It's crap. Making the throws, leadership, staying out of federal prison - these are the marks of leaders. Not race.
You are an idiot and sadly the vast majority around you realize it. You don't.
As an African American, I'm appalled by your stupidity. Competition decides who is ready or not. Jerrod Johnson? Daryl Clark? You are an absurd person with no knowledge of football. You seek excuses instead of depending on talent, brains and other essentials. Go back to 1960 Reverend.
If a guy parties he's a scum bag. If he's a good kid he's a do-gooder. Either way the media will find a way to bring out the worst about everyone. I think Mallet is going to turn out to be a solid pro.
I don't see Carolina Taking Newton. Rivera is a defensive minded coach and his first instinct is to build the defense. IF Cam is taken first it will be because Jerry Richardson wants butts in the seats.
Cam isn't a rocket scientist but neither are any other QB's. IF he works hard and if he gets in the right situation he can develop into a quality Quarterback. With Carolina he will be thrown into the blender with little talent around him. He will struggle mightily.
To me it's all about who he ends up with as to whether he will have a chance at success. He played one year of major college football and hasn't called plays (except by their number - 24 0r 46) where he audibled except to "run." He needs help.
