Posted Wednesday April 09, 2014, About: It's curtains for the Panthers
Obviously the Panthers need to be moved. How are the lightning doing attendance wise? Are they on the Panthers level when they are not competitive? Are they selling out b/c they are playoff bound this season?
Posted Friday March 28, 2014, About: Wang putting the Isles on the block
I am not holding my breath for this, but it will be a great day when this happens.

Does it make sense to sell the team now, a year before the move because the team is worth more?
Or Hold on to the team for a few years and recoup some of the losses and then sell the team?
Wang might just want to wash his hands clean.

With what he has, I think Nolan has done a pretty good job since taking over.
Posted Monday March 03, 2014, About: Dysfunction reduces Nolan to tears
Didn't he also commit acts of infidelity with his players wives? Or was that just bs?

Nolan does not like playing young unproven players. That is why the Isles fired him. Snow wanted to rebuild and Nolan didn't. The same thing is happening in Buffalo.

The Isles could really use a coach like Nolan right now. They should be starting to turn the corner, but Cappy is drunk at the wheel.

Thanks.

Question out of ignorance: How does the Cap/trade work? If a player has a $1mill expiring contract and $1mill cap hit and gets traded at the deadline; is the team that acquires said player only taking a $250,000 cap hit? (Assuming the trade deadline is 3/4 of the way through the season.)

I always thought a players cap hit was their cap hit no matter what.

Also, every guy you mentioned except Kulikov is already on a playoff contender team. You rarely see contenders trading their Dmen away to other contenders. Especially when every contender wants more D depth for the playoffs not less.
Posted Thursday February 27, 2014, About: B's balk at Isles' price for MacDonald
You're taking an individual point I made and not looking at the full picture. Have you seen the contracts/cap hit those guys have? It isn't 550K like AMac. Every contender can trade a pick for AMac. That is really where most of his value comes from. If the Bruins want Girardi/Edler/Gardiner etc... they will have to make a hockey trade.
Posted Thursday February 27, 2014, About: B's balk at Isles' price for MacDonald
In a normal scenario AMac is not worth a first rounder. The reason he is this year is b/c there are very few Dmen available, his cap hit is only 500K so every team can fit him for a pick, he logs 20-25 minutes a game and blocks shots like crazy. There will be a lot competition for AMac because a lot of teams like to get D depth down the stretch.

I think these reasons will outweigh the fact that AMac is a turnover machine, was playing a roll he shouldn't have and is an overall terrible Dman.

I do not think you read the article correctly. If AMac was traded to the Bruins for a first rounder it would be a 20-30 pick. Snow isn't looking for the 1st overall for AMac. They will probably get that all on their own.
Posted Wednesday February 26, 2014, About: Rangers captain 99 percent gone
I kind of think NYR or LA will get Moulson in the offseason. One of the two will probably trade for him now to try and get the inside track.
Posted Monday February 24, 2014, About: Boston's future No. 1 (or a trade chip)
Malcolm Subban. Not PK. PK would be in the second trade.

Bruins need D depth and Isles need a blue chip Goalie prospect. I never said it was fair, but it's fun to play GM. Especially when your job isn't on the line. Kinda like Garth Snow and the rest of the Metro GMs.

AMac for Subban
Vanek, Grabner and 2015 1st for Pacioretty and Subban
2014 1st goes to buffalo

A guy can dream.
Posted Friday February 21, 2014, About: Isles GM is fuming
I hate GS. He does have a point.

I bought tickets for an Isles game in mid march off of Stub hub for $15 a few weeks ago. Those same tickets are now going $8. It is becoming so difficult to support this team.
Posted Thursday February 20, 2014, About: Panthers bleeding $100K a day
This is also why I do not believe these teams are losing money. No successful business person will lose 100K per day for years on end. Unless its a hobby and they just enjoy owning a team.
Posted Thursday February 20, 2014, About: Panthers bleeding $100K a day
This is what I do not get. Owners of professional teams are Billionaires. A majority of them became billionaires by being able to run a profitable business. Throughout their careers they have invested in good/bad ventures, sold high on the good ones and dumped the bad ones to minimize loss. I can't imagine any of these owners accepting 100K per day loss on any of their ventures, so why do they accept it with their pro teams? If this is just a hobby for them then they need to stop complaining. If this is a serious way for them to make money they need to realize its not working and move the team to a more profitable area or sell it.

He had a stroke. Hopefully he has a full recovery, but I would think his playing days are over. That is not good.
Posted Friday February 07, 2014, About: Letang's mystery illness not life-threatening
Hopefully it isn't some sort of Staph infection. Those things are nasty. If it is hopefully they bleached everything, so it won't spread.
Posted Friday February 07, 2014, About: MacDonald on the block after rejecting Isles
There was an article a while back about how the Metro Division hasn't had new GM since the early 2006. Minus Columbus who is new. Which is crazy. Seeing that only 3 teams (Pens, Devils and Carolina new to the division) have actually won the cup in the past 15 years.
Posted Wednesday February 05, 2014, About: Vanek to Isles: 'It's not you, it's me'
I think its reasonable. Iginla was traded for a 1st and 2 mid level prospects. Vanek is 5+ years younger and is having a better season than Iginla did last year. And a team might think it gives them the inside track to signing him.
