UNC and Duke boosters never give any player money. You can go back to the times of converse allstars and never find a recruiting problem in Carolina's history. That was a bold accussation and indicitave if your level of knowledge about NCAA hoops recruiting. UNC and Duke don't have to give money through boosters, their name and their coaches sell those schools. Leave the payments to players up to the mid-level d-1 programs who have to compete to get better players by cheating.

Dean Smith is first class. Anyone who says otherwise simply doesn't know the man or is Rick Barnes. This kid will likely end up at either Carolina or Duke. I have to admit, i hope he goes to DUKE. Maybe then we can get excited for that rivalry again. Nobody in Chapel Hill is shaking in their tar about Kyle Singler or Joh Sheyer.

I don't see UNC lapsing anytime soon though. Well thought out post however Bill. I agree with your description of the two schools. I think there are several NBA players on UNC's current team that will tip the scales back towards UNC ex: Henson, Davis, Thompson, Zeller

carolina could use Wall next year. Backcourt looking very thin. I bet he goes to Miami or NC State so he can get 30 shots a game. No way he gets those at Duke or Kansas or Carolina, maybe at Kentucky, but Calipari would have to pull off a great steal from coach K or Roy. If he wants a "program" He'll likely choose Duke or UNC. Other wise he's one and done at Miami or Baylor or State.

bad teammate. I think there is little debate as to the Lebron vs Carmello argument now. It's clear that Melo will not be a HOFer. Al allstar maybe, but not the HOF. I know it;s early, but his work ethic ans attitude are not comparable to Lebrons. Since his skill level isn't better than lebron, the likelyhood that he becomes a greatly improved player anytime soon is very small.

The knicks have made many poor decisions over the last 8-9 years. Trying to build their team around Marbury, a serial loser on every team he has ever played for, was the biggest of those mistakes. Whoever picks him up is either desperate os stupid or both.

dumbest trade ever. They dropped a grewat defender and floor-runner in Marion and picked up the Albatross that is an ailing Shaq. I'm not sayng Shaq isn't still an effective player and force in the post, bu the way that nash plays does not lend itself to blending with Shaq's game. in fact he's slowing up the whole team right now. They should ask the heat to take hm back for marion. Watching the suns is so boring now. At least they were fun to watch before.

really bluedevil999 i have spent lots of time on both campuses. Carolina has some of the finest athletic facilities of any college in the country. "Why would anyone want to go to UNC?" That's got to be a joke right? Have you ever hung out in Chapel Hill. You can't swing a Hansborouigh jersey without hitting a girl who rates a 9 or 10 on the hotness scale. Ever hung out in Durham? Nice old run down tobacco town with a lot of girls from Jersey. Not thanks. I'll take blue heaven.
