Posted Monday September 14, 2009, About: Report: McNabb out next week
I see this very often and I don't know why it is tolerated by the NFL. If McNabb had fallen out of bounds and two players jumped on him in that same fashion, a flag would have been thrown for a late hit. Why does the same not apply for the goal line? Once a player has possession in the end zone, the play is over any hit is a late hit. This may get a little subjective as you try to time a hit on a receiver on a catch in the end zone, but is it any more subjective than many other personal fouls in the NFL. One more thing. If you want to stop personal foul injuries implement one simple rule: If a player is injured due to a hit that is flagged or subsequently fined, the perpetrator is suspended no less than the number of games that the injured player is out. After the first player is suspended for a few games without pay, others will think twice about questionable hits.

While I agree that having a live performance of one and a recording of the other does imply a certain lack of respect, I don't think Canadians have much to complain about. At least the Canadian anthem wasn't boo'ed as is often the case when the US Anthem is played in Canadian venues!!!
Posted Friday November 21, 2008, About: Browns GM caught in 'e-mail-gate'
Way to keep up the league image Goodell. If a player had sent the same e-mail he would definately have been fined and propably suspended. But because it is one of your front office buddies, you do nothing.

Way to run a business Roger Go-d'-hell.
Posted Thursday November 06, 2008, About: Texans upset with Vikings' Allen
Sounds like another low hit on a QB. Of course Allen will not be fined because he is not a Patriot. Goodell only fines Patriot player for low hits. Of course if Goodell actually wanted to end cheap shots in the game he would institute one simple rule. If the league disciplines a player for a cheap shot and that hit results in an injury to another player, the suspension will be at least as long as the injured player is out. If players have to worry about game day checks and not $15,000 fines, they will play smarter and why should should the cheap shot artist play when the guy playing as he should is missing time on the field.
Posted Thursday October 30, 2008, About: Goodell questions Pats' Wilfork
Nice Job SI. Post that Vince is being looked at, but don't post that nothing came of it. I am still wondering how the Goodell can even question Wilfolk for bumping someone with an extremity when Brady was taken out by a helmet/shoulder to the knee. I have heard the argument that Morris kept the defender on that play from getting the hit higher, but that is a crock. The defender lunged at Brady from his hands and knees. It if physically impossible so lunge upwards from that position unless you get your knees forward of your hips. The only possible place he could have hit Brady from the position is squarely in the knees, but he is let go. How about you print those facts SI.
