They should sign Bell to a 3 year deal now in the $25M range. Bell is the best and only option they have to close now that Adams is gone.

If the Padres can get a catching prospect, a starting pitching prospect or a shortstop off the Rangers I think moving Bell makes sense. They have Adams ready to go with Gregerson setting up.

Unfortunately, I could see the Padres moving several players at the deadline or before. Bell and Adams might be the first two but Hawpe, Cantu and Ludwick should also follow. Until the ownership transition is completed I think the Padres will be a small payroll team that will trade veterans at peak value to obtain low service time players or minor league prospects.
