Imagine making $12M a year ($5769 / hour nominal) or in real terms about $35,000 per hour (which is what he made in 2012 per actual hour worked) and having the boss say:
Don't bother coming into work today because your back hurts.
And people actually vote for Tea Party Republicans!?!?
Oh man, what a riot you are! "...a varsity team at an Ivy-league university".
How about coming back down to Earth for a bit? Next time, you might want to consider writing "at college". You'll read like much less of a blowhard... and, who knows, someone might actually agree with your opinion.
Whoever said "nine figure contracts are invariably a bad deal for teams signing them" needs to get a grip on reality.
The fact of the matter is that "seven figure contracts are invariably a bad deal for fans". These guys should not be earning anywhere near $1M to play professional sports. Pay them at most five times the average household income in the US (presently around $45k). This was how it was done until the 80's.
Does anyone remember when you could buy a bleacher seat at Fenway for $4? I do. It was "way back" in 1984. That's right, you could buy a ticket to a professional baseball game for one hour's work at minimum wage.
People need to get a grip and realize that they themselves are never, ever going to be rich...
It's funny how people, who have no inkling of who Vince Wilfork is, write clueless comments.
It's painfully obvious - even reading the text - that he's being funny with the wimpy line. You know, like sarcasm. He's pointing out that QBs aren't wimpy and he's being facetious.
But a nation born and bred on Fox News can not be expected to understand anything but force fed information. Duh!
Actually Ortiz isn't a confirmed "roider". He is "supposedly" on a list of violators - but that doesn't prove that he ever took a single steroid. Not that I think he's innocent. I'm just saying that your facts aren't all straight.

"Browns COULD pursue...Ryan"
Yeah, they could pursue anyone including Joe Flacco and Tom Brady. A stupid title that reflects the decline and fall of the US educational system.
Why do you think running from first base to second base while the pitcher is throwing the ball to home plate is called "stealing"?
Every team in every sport cheats in one way or another (how many linesmen use HGH?). The true test is to not get caught.
