If he can only sign to entry level contract, I don't see why he would sign with that garbage dump in Toronto...
Posted Monday February 04, 2008, About: Ducks interested in Sundin, Hossa
Anahiem will not land either of these guys based on the simple fact that, they will be expensive to pry away from their current teams and Burke is not one to throw away future assets for rental players. As good as Sundin and Hossa are, to the Ducks, they will be nothing more than rental players. The only way Burke would even consider making this move is if he figured he could keep them long term and without Perry locked up yet, that won't happen!... He is the same GM in Anahiem as he was in Vancouver... He never made brash moves then and he won't do the same now.

The Leafs with their false sense of hope will re-sign Sundin, thinking he'll play a few more years and bring Toronto some joy... I can definatley see Hossa being moved, simply because Don Waddell clearly went to the John Ferguson School of GM's and still failed...
Posted Friday January 25, 2008, About: Why Wings won't sign Forsberg
Considering the Flyers have about $100,000 in cap space left, I doubt he'll go to Philly... I'm with the earlier statement that he wouldn't sign with a rival; the only place I could see him going to is, Colorado for one last gas with Sakic.
Posted Thursday January 24, 2008, About: No fire sale for new Leafs GM
Any deal including Sundin should include Kubina. If a team wants the Leafs captain, Fletcher should force them to take Kubina and his ridiculous salary as well. If the Leafs can do that, they free up alot of money and put themselves in a better position to groom some young guys. The only guy on the Leafs I wouldn't even consider moving is Toskala... Keep him and build around him!

This has gotta be a joke... Then again, the Kings DID trade for Dan Cloutier...
Posted Tuesday December 11, 2007, About: Niedermayer forcing Ducks trade
Much like Bryzgalov, the Ducks aren't gonna get squat for Marchant or anybody for that reason. Teams know that the Ducks are against the wall and won't offer much as compensation... The normally patient Burke, doesn't have that luxury anymore, so he's gonna have to essentially give Marchant away.
Posted Tuesday December 11, 2007, About: Vick still has future in NFL
The CFL is not gonna take him while he is suspended by the NFL. After that Ricky Williams mess, the CFL implemented a rule, that states, suspended NFL players are ineligable to play in the CFL.

Actually, trading for and re-signing Cloutier was all due to Crawford's insistence that he was the guy to lead them to glory. For some reason Crow has had it in his head for years that Cloutier is a number 1 goalie. People rant about his back-to-back 30 win seasons, but in reality, he had little to do with that... The Canucks won games in those years by outscoring other teams. If Cloutier was in net for the current Canucks, people would understand that this guy is, at best, an AHL goalie... Trust me folks, living in Vancouver and going through the pain of watching this guy blow it has contributed to my assessment of his talent.
Posted Monday December 10, 2007, About: Report: Marty for Marty trade
Why couldn't St. Louis be a guy you could build around? He's 32 and locked up till 2010. The only guy that the Stars currently have locked up past 2010 is Morrow... Modano (37), Lehtinen (34), Zubov (37); as much as these guys have done for their franchise, you have to admit, they are nearing the end of their careers. Why not move Turco and take a shot with Smith? That core group in Dallas has been there for a while, and has not had the playoff success they've been looking for... Maybe its time for a major change?

Then again... looking at the standings, the Stars don't look like they are in a heap of trouble...?
Posted Monday December 10, 2007, About: Report: Marty for Marty trade
Crimson_star, I'm with you on your point when you said this trade doesn't make alot of sense because it is a "win-now" move and its not gonna help the team in building for the future. But then, how does trading Mike Smith, Boucher and a prospect help? That's more of a win-now move, than Turco straight up would be.

In all likely hood, the chance of Jay Feaster taking Mike Smith is little to none; he made the mistake of taking a chance on an up and coming goalie in Marc Denis. Tampa is only gonna move one of their world-class forwards, for a world class goalie.

Let's not forget that both of these guys (St. Louis and Turco) have "no trade clauses" in their contracts.
Posted Monday December 10, 2007, About: Another Duck returning to flock
Once they create the space for Niedermayer, fitting Teemu in there won't be problem. If Selanne returns it'll be at a MAJOR discount, my guess is barely touching the $1M mark. Selanne is a class act and is not going to try and squeeze the Ducks for alot of money. If this guy wanted a ton of dough, he would make himself available to a bunch of other teams in the league. He is aware of the Ducks' situation, and knows that if he wants to play there, he is going to have to accept alot less money.

How about improving the current American market before throwing another team in there?...
Posted Friday December 07, 2007, About: Wild may dangle defenseman
Carney could be valuable to someone looking for some depth heading into the playoffs. Although he has slowed down in years, he is still a defensively responsible rear-guard. He was one of the main reasons that Anaheim made that run back in '03.
Posted Thursday December 06, 2007, About: How Stars' two-GM system works
Last night was his first game back, but he had played in 16 games prior to getting injured. The point I was trying to make was that, it's hard to justify paying a guy $4.25M and not getting points put on the board. I know he is a stay at home defenseman, but there has to be more to your game than that if you are getting paid what this guy is getting paid.
Posted Wednesday December 05, 2007, About: How Stars' two-GM system works
How about Nordstrom? ($4.25M/Y) - 0 points in 15 games?... Or Jeff Halpern ($2M/Y) - 8 points in 26 games?... I don't think any of these guys have NTC's? Althought it won't be easy, they should just try to give Nordstrom away. Halpern would probably be an easier move closer to the deadline...
Posted Wednesday December 05, 2007, About: How Stars' two-GM system works
Well, what do you do if a team continually fails in the playoffs? The core of guys they've had in Dallas for a while now-- Modano, Turco, Morrow, Lehtinen and Zubov-- have had regular season "success", but blow it come playoff time... Maybe it's time for a change there? With that said, the last thing they need to do is trade their "young talented defensemen" for anything.

Being in Vancouver, my only real exposure to the Stars was from last years playoff series; if the Stars do have some young depth, they should stay with that and go from there, rather than follow in the mistakes that they made in the past by giving up picks and/or prospects for quick fixes.
Posted Wednesday December 05, 2007, About: How Stars' two-GM system works
I with (efizzle201) on this one. There are some guys that have it and some that don't, and Brett Hull does not strike me as a guy that has what it takes to be a GM. I think this guy will literally do nothing! And if he was smart he wouldn't do much... The Stars really have no MAJOR assets (I wouldn't trade Modano out of respect). These guys have to wait and start building through the draft all over again... Move guys like Morrow, Lethinen... maybe even Zubov, who would get you quite a bit back come deadline time.

Why do people hate him? Well in Canada, its cause he's seen in some circles as a traitor...
Posted Wednesday December 05, 2007, About: Calgary may claim waived Penguin
Yah, this is exactly the guy that Calgary needs... If anywhere Recchi will end up with his buddy 'Hitch' in Columbus... They could actually use him. Calgary's problems far surpass anything the Recchi could help them with; especially at this point in his career.

JHale420, I couldn't have put it better myself...

GoCanada! Hit it right on the head. Peddie should go just as much as JFJ. These guys at MLSE brought JFJ in for the same reason that Morty Seinfeld tried to get Kramer to run for condo president at Del-Boca Vista; to install a controllable figure head in the hot seat, while the guys at MLSE could wield power from the wings, in some sort of puppet regime... That's all... When they were looking for replacements for Quinn, anyone of the names out there were more qualified than JFJ: Tambellini, Neil Smith, even Dave Nonis was in there at the time... Why weren't any of these guys brought in?... Puppet regime... Now I can understand the possible argument claiming that maybe some of these guys wouldn't want the job... Remember folks, Neil Smith took a job in Long Island.

I give JFJ no longer that January. 25th...

Side Note: JHale 420, you should receive an award for your icon... Conky rules! haha

I wouldn't even call the Leafs an 'okay team'. This roster has so many holes in it, I wouldn't even know where to begin. They have limited scoring and a terrible defense core, which has translated into the struggles between the pipes. Teams that are succeeding in the NHL require atleast a 3-line balance. This roster has no one capable of being a shutdown forward or defenseman; this is a problem because of the number of dynamic one-on-one players in the Eastern conference. Instead of having that 'defensive stopper', they have guys like Wellwood, Stajan, Antropov and Steen who all think they are game-breaking offensive forwards. This is a problem that needs to be resolved quickly... And negative attention needs to be taken away from Paul Maurice... It's not his fault! JFJ has provided him with a poor roster.

Just hurry up and fire Ferguson already... and while you're at it, get rid of Peddie too... Half of this mess is his fault.

I don't blame Maurice... No one could make this team good... And blame for that goes straight to JFJ... This guys is far and away the WORST GM I've ever seen at work in the NHL. It's so frustrating to see a guy like this employed by a professional sports team. He continues to fail and will continuously fail... You want a replacement for him? I hear that monkey that does the playoff predictions at TSN is looking for some work till the spring... Not like the Leafs are going to make the playoffs anyway; she'll be free by then to go back to TSN and spin the wheel and provide viewers with better picks than the other 'analysts' (... mainly Milbury--- how is this guy not a janitor yet?)
