Imagine being that kid? Heading to the US from Japan, not know **** to expect, especially in a notoriously high pressure market like Boston. Yeah playing with his idol is a plus but Im sure the kid will be happy to have two other japanese players there who can help ease him through the transition process to not only deal with the media but also to help adjust him to how the game is played in the US. As a Sox fan whose had to watch Dice K the last two years, its very apparent the game plan he is used to executing in Japan differs from MLB. Good move by the kid, lets hope he holds up.

yeah, what the hell, 1 year, not a lot of money, worth a shot. Not like there is a plethora of quality pitching to be had on the FA market anyway
Posted Monday December 10, 2007, About: Mangini won't commit to QB
Larry, I don't think hoddie needs to ask the team to protect honor or anything like that, they'll do that on their own. Every one of those veterans from the super bowl teams who have listened to the talk of their rings being tainted are going to get that team fired up. Yeah bill cheated a bit, but mangini broke the coaches' code and snitched. If you don't think the players want to stick it to him then your out of your mind. 64-13 Pats, Brady throws for 410, 5TDs, 1 pick. Moss 127 3TD, Wlker 105 1TD, 8 injured, 2 dead.

Prospects are good, but never a sure thing. Especially pitchers.. Get a front line starter thats proven definately. I'm a sox fan and even I say the Yanks pull the trigger on Haren. Same with the Sox for Johan.. Im looking forward to Lester and Jacoby, but for a proven talent? Do it up

Trade it for a top of the line backer.. And your right, no way they trade with the Jets. The bad blood, plus it being within the division? Not happening. Especially after New England puts up about 70 points on the Jets in a couple weeks

Yup. He'd take to much $ to sign. Trade the pick for a big talent with a reasonable contract, something to keep cap flexibility, re-sign Moss/Samuel. Running backs tend to burn out quick anyway. Only a few backs are really game changers, most are just reflections of a talented offensive line. If the line can clear holes, a mediocre back looks good (See: Denver having a new back every friggen year). If the pats could get Moss for a 4th rounder, I'm sure Pioli could finagle something pretty good with the #2

I just threw up in my mouth at the thought of this
Posted Tuesday November 13, 2007, About: Lowell still open to Boston offers
Can anyone else see the Yankees coming out and offering Lowell a 4 year that they know he wont jump on, maybe just enough toi make it look legit, only to force the Sox hand into offering a 4 year? Just a classic Yankee's spite move (albeit a good one to force the Sox into a binding contract with an aging player) and when Lowell resigns with Boston at 4 years, they pull the trigger on Cabrera

Sox would have to give us either Buckoltz, or Lester, throw in maybe a A premier outfield prospect (Ellsbury alone or maybe a combo of Moss who has a plus arm and a promising AA player) Then maybe Theo's first born too.

The Yanks would definately have to trade Cano combined with a lower prospect and probably Joba or Hughes

Money is definately not the big factor for the Sox with all the revenue. Year wise it is smart to know how to invest in a player. By all accounts Lowell is a good guy, and he put up great numbers in Boston but four years for someone his age is not the best move. Look at damon and pedro. LOVED in Boston, but they started showing age signs real quick after they left Boston. Pedro is going to be another Schilling, dropped velocity on the heater but makes his living as a control pitcher, good for 13 wins maybe, IF he is healthy. Damon seems more brittle lately then my grandfather and has a below average arm. Would you sign those guys to a 4 year deal if you were Theo? IMO, give him three years, but up the annual salary to compensate, add a few performance clauses to the third year and have a team option with a clause loaded payoff on a fourth year. Might not be a garunteed 4 like he wants, but monetarily he gets compensated and has the possibility of that 4th. Sox get him for 3, and have the option on a 4th. At the tail end incentives come into play with keeps the Sox from overpaying an underachiever and we all know how people raise their performance in contract years.
