Yankees buy another title. Congratulations on your purchase.
Posted Thursday October 08, 2009, About: Deion in middle of Dez Bryant case
Let's apply some elementary logic here. Dez was ruled ineligible for lying, but what he was lying about was not a violation to begin with? Is that the kind of power the NCAA should have? So, following that reasoning, if they had asked him his favorite color and he lied and said blue and they later discovered it was green, they have a right to rescind his eligibility? The lie itself is the only leg they have to stand on? This should be laughed off the face of the earth and Bryant should be suited up THIS Saturday. The contact with Sanders was NOT illegal. Let Bryant's mother correct him for telling a lie, not the NCAA.
Posted Tuesday September 29, 2009, About: Brunnstrom facing Stars demotion?
Brunnstrom's not that bad, but has a ways to go. The problem is not him--the problem is this kid Jamie Benn has outplayed him and everybody else in a Stars jersey in pre-season. 4 goals in 4 games and very solid defensive skills. And no, it's no fluke....Benn averaged almost a goal a game in junior hockey. Not a point a game, a GOAL a game, with a point total way over his number of games played. He's for real, he's 20 years old and has made the jump straight from juniors to the NHL. Brunnstrom is the unfortunate victim of that, because we have too many left wingers. Keep your ears open for Jamie Benn from Dallas, because he's getting ready to turn the league upside down.

He's not so bad....got a lot better toward the end of the season here in Dallas. Doesn't matter for us though. He won't be staying here. Our owner's out of money and our internal cap is 10 million bucks below the nhl salary cap.

Posted Friday June 26, 2009, About: Zubov's Dallas home for sale
Nobody knows how much he has left, and that's the problem. D-men can still be effective at that age, but the injuries spell trouble. I'd be a little surprised if we re-signed Zubie, unless he gave us a massive hometown discount.
Posted Tuesday June 16, 2009, About: Gustavsson visits Avalanche
He's very good friends with Fabian Brunnstrom, last year's coveted Swede who's now a Dallas Star. You know how stuff like that goes.....I'd say Dallas and Toronto are the 2 leaders for this guy. I'm not sure Colorado could recruit their way out of a wet paper bag right now, and Nabokov seems the least likely of the 4 goalies to be pushed for playing time.
Posted Friday June 12, 2009, About: Nieuwendyk picked Crawford without player input
2 things: 1) Dave Tippett was very popular here in Dallas. 2) The Bertuzzi incident and Crawford's involvement, to whatever degree. Those together have a lot of fans up in arms. Personally, I'm willing to give the guy a chance. To not do so would be to claim that I know more about professional hockey than Joe Nieuwendyk, Conn Smythe winner, 3 time Stanley Cup winner, and General Manager of a major professional sports team. That would be really, really dumb I think.

Please do. Get this clown out of a Stars sweater.
Posted Thursday June 04, 2009, About: T. Boone Pickens: OU is team to beat
So many of these remarks, about T-Boone being an idiot, about Stillwater being ugly, about OU this and Texas that, are self-evidently ridiculous. OSU is turning into a national power in football right before your very crimson and burnt orange eyes, and you just can't handle the truth. Pickens stated one thing when he first donated the money to start the facilities upgrades: he said he wanted OSU to have a chance to be competitive in the Big 12. Period. That was the stated reason. He wanted their facilities to be able to lure recruits that otherwise would have not looked in their direction. He wanted to compete with OU and TX. CLEARLY, mission largely accomplished, but also still in progress. The stadium expansion project did not come close to going broke, at ALL. That is a bonehead statement. Pickens reiterated on a number of occasions "they are going to have everything they need, trust me." That's why he threw in the additional 63 million, to ensure that. He'll do it again if he has to. All you expert financial analysts are hilarious. Go Pokes
Posted Wednesday June 03, 2009, About: Swedish goalie to visit Leafs
What kind of fan doesn't predict their team will win on a trash-talk internet board? I'm a fan, not an independent analyst. Sorry to insult your superior intelligence there, Mr. Gretzky.
Posted Wednesday June 03, 2009, About: Swedish goalie to visit Leafs
The new GM of the Dallas Stars is Joe Nieuwendyk, who just left the Leafs and was involved in Gustavsson talks with Toronto to begin with, and now continues them with Dallas instead, alongside Les Jackson, the former GM who is now back over the scouting team and had been talking to Gustavsson as well. And, Dallas Star swede Fabian Brunnstrom is very close friends with Gustavsson. This guy's a Dallas Star by the end of June.
Posted Tuesday June 02, 2009, About: Stars to change spending strategy
Dallas doesn't need to increase payroll. They need to get healthy. If a team pushes the Wings to 6 games in the conference finals one year, and misses the playoffs the next year, coming in 12th place, with essentially the only difference in personnel being retirements of Mattias Norstrom and Stu Barnes (love 'em to death, but come on), and the trading of Hagman and Jokinen (love em to death, but come on), then when looking for answers you have to cast your eyes towards the infirmary. Is it an excuse? No.... well, yeah. You just cant argue with that many devastating injuries. Dallas is right back in contention next year.
Posted Wednesday May 06, 2009, About: NHL fighting Coyotes move to Canada
Hey man! Don't include my beloved Stars in that group! We have the 6th most valuable franchise in the league and regularly challenge in the playoffs (forget this year, it was bogus)
Posted Wednesday April 22, 2009, About: Why so many homers at new Yankee Stadium?
Why so many homers? Because New York sucks. Why did a rainbow trout just get snagged by a grizzly bear in a nameless stream somewhere in western Canada? Because he jumped out of the water at the wrong place and the wrong time, and oh yeah, because New York sucks.
Posted Wednesday April 15, 2009, About: Minnesota return not in Modano's future
Mike plays another year in Dallas to see if he can win a cup or at least erase the foul taste of this year's tragedy of a season. Then, the next stop for #9 is in the rafters.
Posted Wednesday April 15, 2009, About: Hottest non-NHL free agent could be...
A similar story was circulating about this time last year except it wasn't Gustavson, it was Fabian Brunnstrom, another promising Swede. He's now a Dallas Star and contributing nicely. We'll get this other guy too. If he's that good, he may get close to a 50% of the starts in goal kind of deal, to push Turco and spell him as well.
