I think this latest report makes sense - if Boras calls the Sox and says their bid was chosen by Tex, it's not like they'er going to say, "oh no, we pulled out and are not interested." But on the other hand, they won't increase their offer and if Boras is to be believed, there are offers out there higher than theirs. Henry's claim that they will not be a factor is based on the assumption that Tex will choose the highest offer, which is probably a safe bet. Although, wouldn't it be refreshing if Mark said screw it, at these prices, what the hell's the difference really, I'm going where I will be happy and have the best chance to win?

Hnedry is a clown, he has done nothing except shed salary this offseason. The Cubs barely won the worst division in baseball, got swept in the first round, and now this? They better not only get Fukadome but Roberts & a pitcher or two. I predict Hendry will come up empty and end up signing a guy like Geoff Jenkins. And why are the Cubs listed as front-runners for this guy when the Padres have already made him a solid offer? Remember, Hendry allowed himself to get outbid by the Astros for Matsui. It wouldn't surprise me if he lost again. He sucks.

They should go for Matt Morris from the Pirates, he used to pitch for the Cardinals and would be a stop-gap until guys like Carpenter and Mulder are back.

No way he goes to the Dodgers. He's either going to sign with Texas, the White Sox or back with Minnesota. In all liklihood he is going to sign with the Sox.
