Doughty played 3 years of OHL hockey, this is the first year for Fowler he is only 17 years old. I hope he wouldn't have cracked the top 3 of last years draft.

Doughty first year in the OHL 65 games: 5 goals, 28 asst for 33 pts
Fowler in his first 12 games of OHL hockey 2 goals, 17 asst for 19 pts looks like his farther ahead at this point of his career.

Guess you haven't heard of Cam Fowler also from the Windsor Spitfires.

First year in the OHL and he is third in the league in scoring with 2 goals and 17 asst
Is ranked #2 behind Hall as the top 2010 draft prospects. A puck moving defenseman that all teams would love to have.

Defence - Windsor (OHL)
Born: 12/05/91, Northville, MI
6-2, 190 lbs.

The Insider's Take: The scouts often refer to the young American as the "total package." He has size, speed and skill and can be a force at both ends of the ice.
Posted Monday September 21, 2009, About: Bruins: Kessel wanted out of Boston
Do you want to rethink what you wrote? Just how productive do you want him to be.

2007-08 playoffs 3 goals 1 asst in 4 games played

2008-09 playoffs 6 goals 5 asst in 11 games played

so his playoff total is 9 goals and 6 asst for 15 points in 15 games
Posted Monday September 21, 2009, About: Bruins: Kessel wanted out of Boston
If the guy, Kessel, isn't going to sign with the Bruins or any other team but the Leafs what do you want Chiarelli to do?

Add these picks to what they had and it now gives the Bruins two 1st round picks in 2010 and a total of three 2nd round picks in 2010 that they can now package to get this so called single body / replacement.

Chiarelli actually got more than he would have if Toronto would have put an offfer sheet for that amount and he decided not to match. Kessel signed for $5.4 million cap hit

OFFER COMPENSATION

$994,433 or below None
Over $994,433 to $1,506,716 Third-round choice
Over $1,506,716 to $3,013,434 Second-round choice
Over $3,013,434 to $4,520,150 First-round and third-round choice
Over $4,520,150 to $6,026,867 First-round, second-round and third-round choice
Over $6,026,867 to $7,533,584 Two first-round choices, one second- and one third-round choice

Even if these picks are not in the top 10 the Bruins could always package the pick along with their own to move up.
They also have Tampa Bay's 2nd round pick next year in the trade that sent Lashoff and Karsums for Recchi. Giving them 3 picks now in the 2nd round to go along with 2 1st round picks.

Why Coyotes likely to stay in Phoenix:

Maybe because Kessel is rumored to be headed there as well, fans lining up now for season tickets.

Just when you thought it was safe to read T&R again. It's Back!!!! another Kessel story.

The more things change the more they stay the same.

Is Groundhog Day finally done? No Kessel T&R today after reading the same thing over and over and over.....

Nashville and the Rangers have been reported as also having interest. Burke from Toronto and Poile from Nashville both have talked to the Bruins.
Posted Monday September 14, 2009, About: What Toronto is offering for Kessel
Right now Boston can sign him, match any offer or trade him so Burke may be offering the two 1st round picks as Chiarelli still has control till Oct 1st.

After Oct 1st Toronto can sign Kessel to an offer sheet and the best Boston can do is take the draft picks, a 1st, 2nd and 3rd in next years draft.

At this time Chiarelli is smart if he is playing one team against another trying to get the best deal possible. If it's true that Nashville, General Manager David Poile confirmed as much, saying he's talked with Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli and Kessel's agent, Wade Arnott, in recent days, then why not see if he can get a couple 1st round picks or better.

Chiarelli may be bluffing when he says that Boston will match any offer sheet, but if he does both these teams lose out as the Bruins, per CBA rules, can not trade him till next season if they match.
Posted Monday September 14, 2009, About: What Toronto is offering for Kessel
Boston may not be taking this offer as the two 1st round picks offered may not be back to back years and the fact the Toronto also wants Boston to throw in a 3rd round pick.

If Boston feels that Toronto is going to give a contract of $5.3 million or more then they would be getting these picks anyway without having to give their 3rd to Toronto.
$5,231,249-$6,539,062 Two first-rounders, a second-round pick and a third-round pick.

His agent may be pushing for this type of money as all the other players that have scored 35 plus goals are well above this amount.

Don't know where Toronto is going to get all these draft picks from to sign these RFA next season?

Rogers SportsNet is reporting tonight that the Leafs have offered two 1st round picks and a 2nd round pick for Kessel and then you think Toronto is going to be able to do other "massive" RFA deal next year?

As I already posted if they were to sign a RFA for more than $5.3 million it's two 1st a 2nd and a 3rd starting which start in the 2011 draft.
The other has 1st round pick would be in the 2012 draft.

I don't believe that Burke is going to be willing to get rid of the future (draft picks) on a couple players?
Posted Saturday September 12, 2009, About: Leafs leading Kessel chase
Brad Marchand would be a better fit as that's his style already, Hamill is more of a playmaker.
Posted Saturday September 12, 2009, About: Leafs leading Kessel chase
They can offer a massive deal to these RFA but it will cost them:

$5,231,249-$6,539,062 : Two first-rounders, a second-round pick and a third-round pick.

$6,539,062 or more: Four first-round picks

Let's not get too carried away here, it's a rookie tournament.

They destroyed the rookie games? Thought that Ottawa beat them 7-1 and refresh my memory but weren't they also on the ice when Boston scored the game winning goal, their 6th goal of the game. That's 13 goals against in 2 games and their destroying the rookie games?

The 2 things I can now count on each morning, my Timmy's coffee and once again another story on Kessel.

But today it gets even better we also have Sundin back in T&R, throw in Heatley and the Coyotes and does it get any better? Yes it does!!

Just think they also have Fleury now reinstated, start the where is he headed stories anytime now.
Posted Friday September 11, 2009, About: Sources: Kessel won't negotiate with Bruins
Well the Bruins could wait till Toronto offers Kessel a contract and then they would get the 1st round pick along with a 2nd and 3rd in next years draft.
Posted Thursday September 10, 2009, About: Rangers, Leafs face Kessel obstacles
Edmonton needs players that can put the puck in the net, a player like Sturm can provide that.

Last year the Oilers had only 3 players that had 20 or more goals, Hemsey and Souray (a defenseman) both had 23 and Kotalik finished with 20. For a total of 2 forwards on the entire team.

An injury last year to Sturm limited him to just 19 games in which he scored 7 goals, (a 30 goal pace).

In the past 6 seasons he has put up 20+ goals each year

2000-01 21 goals
02-03 28 goals
03-04 21 goals in 64 games
05-06 29 goals
06-07 27 goals
07-08 27 goals

Agree that if the Bruins were to move Sturm it gives them $3.5 million cap space to use on Kessel. The problem is that Sturm has a NTC that has kicked in and he must approve a trade.

Marco Sturm, BOS - NTC (conditional: Sturm has a NTC in effect for the 2008-09 season - if the team he ends the regular season with makes the playoffs, he carries a NTC the following season. If that team does not make the playoffs, he does not have a NTC the following season.)
