Posted Tuesday November 17, 2009, About: Stoops or Ferentz at Notre Dame?
There are inherent qualities to the ND program (players and recruiting) which make for a strong respectable program, but producing a perenial national powerhouse is a thing of the past, much like the path of Army decades ago. Times are different and getting more so as time goes on. Stoops is not going to ND, and I highly doubt he goes anywhere until he accomplishes the benchmark set by his own expectations with the Sooners.
Posted Sunday October 25, 2009, About: Griese apologizes for on-air gaffe
Griese goofed. What a stupid thing to say ... not because it offended any Mexicans or Columbians ... but because it made him and his employer look not so cool. Sports is entertainment and image is everything. This will likely help the wind down of his career a bit. I gotta roll with comment 61 ... the thread of ignorance through this chain of comments is disturbing.
Posted Sunday September 27, 2009, About: How bad is Tebow's concussion?
The only cheap hits in this matter are from some of the posters in this conversation. "Why'd he play" .... because that's what he does. "Serves him right" ... you gotta be kidding me.
Posted Friday September 25, 2009, About: Tension between KU teams not new
Stuey constantly tells me Kansas sucks huge monkey butt and with this coming to light, I gotta believe him. Reflects poorly on the school and shines a light on the sick culture at KU. I figure the whole thing started when the hard courters found Mangino eating all their basketballs.
Posted Sunday September 20, 2009, About: Big Ten suspends Wolverine for Irish punch
Cheap shot ... the guy's a tool. I'm a big fan of both teams, but I'm no fan of either coach, let them both wallow in mediocrity.
Posted Saturday September 12, 2009, About: Jordan rips Krause in Hall of Fame speech
MJ may or may not be right, who knows, and at this point, who cares. I don't think he served himself well by bringing this up in this forum. I'm still a big MJ fan ... just not quite as much as I was yesterday.
Posted Wednesday September 02, 2009, About: Arizona no closer to naming starting QB
Many of us in Oklahoma would love to have him back. There appeared to be an interesting dynamic which affected the team with him supporting his brother. He takes a new job and Kansas State immediately hands the "they're so good they're scary" team its ass. Fantastic team and record to go with it, but we've never quite met expectations since his departure.
Posted Tuesday September 01, 2009, About: Notre Dame AD: Irish, Weis must contend for BCS
Piratey - What are you talking about and wtf's up with, "They had a 4 to 1 male to female ratio up there, talk about a sausage fest." If you're a guy, talking to guys, I hope we never share a sauna.
Posted Tuesday September 01, 2009, About: Notre Dame AD: Irish, Weis must contend for BCS
Can you say Army, Navy and Notre Dame all in the same breath. There are aspects of the school that simply make it inherently more difficult to field a modern day competitive team. Times are a changing and it's not for the better if you're Irish.
Posted Monday August 10, 2009, About: Bad sign for Vick's NFL future?
Let's assume my team wins a super bowl with Vick ... would it be worth it? I can't really answer that with all certainty. No matter what he does, I will likely always picture him as a disgrace. Sure he's paid his time and debt to society, but the core person remains ... and that person is not someone with whom I could share the joy of success in sport.
Posted Sunday July 26, 2009, About: Tebow answers chastity question
Yawn.
Posted Saturday July 25, 2009, About: Top recruiting snubbing Irish?
Army, Navy ..... Notre Dame, look at your future. Times have changed and you, by the very nature of your organization, can't. Sure the detractors can put it off on the current blob of a coach, but the fact is big time players and Notre Dame no longer fit the same mold.
Posted Wednesday July 01, 2009, About: Tiger bites back at Brown
Over the years, Jim Brown has managed to dilute any credibility he may have had at one time. He's evidently accomplished many things, but has managed to reduce his image to little more than a circus side show ... to an audience on both sides of the race line. I agree with the previous comment "the '60's are over" and so is Mr. Brown. Tiger's navigation of the high road with his handling of the Jim Brown issue further illustrates he's so far above his mouthy detractor, he need not ratify Mr. Brown by engaging him.
Posted Friday June 26, 2009, About: Moeller QB picks Irish over Buckeyes
Don't get me wrong ... to have a child attending Notre Dame is very impressive. To have one playing football at ND, wow, what a star on the resume. However, I am pained by the slow death of the program, feeling it is somewhat destined to go the way of the military powerhouses of the earlier eras. Maybe Charlie can put something together, but to date, he appears to be befuddled. Good luck Irish, I hope you get it turned around, but I have a feeling the culture of big time college football may over the years leave you to be a really good school without a perennially dominant football program.
Posted Tuesday June 09, 2009, About: Neuheisel's ticked at Carroll
Totally a non-issue. Sounds like they took a vote and maybe Carroll voted no because that's his belief. Neuheisel seems the wad in this case. Maybe he should just leave his kids at the casino so he can pick them and his check up after the game. I can't believe he's allowed back in the sport.
Posted Monday May 25, 2009, About: Sooners losing a guard
... and ... as much as I hate to ever agree with KingFootball, I must step down from the soap box for a moment and admit .... losing to Boise State??? and then WV???? Those were a couple of embarassments, aka "eggs" as they are often referenced. That being said, OU and Stoops will likely have their day once more.
Posted Monday May 25, 2009, About: Sooners losing a guard
I love the trash talked about OU and Stoops like they suck. I doubt many coaches wake up in the morning and say, "Boy, I'd sure like to play OU today." He loses big games because he's in so many. He's consistently got his team in the top 5 with frequent #1 rankings. There are other premier coaches like Carroll and Meyer and depending on how you arrange your statistics you'll always find someone with a better record in some regard, but not many. I respect Mack Brown, Steve Spurrier and all the SEC crew as well, but when you go to mouthing about Stoops not getting it done, you show your own lack of savvy. Same goes for the smack thrown at Ohio State ... most of you only wish you did so well.
Posted Wednesday May 20, 2009, About: Notre Dame omits Weis' losing season
Seems like they only spotlighted it by it's conspicuous omission. If you're so fat your butt crack extends to the front of your pants, it is ridiculous to be put in charge of a group of young men where health and physical fitness is the foundation of the whole program.
Posted Wednesday May 20, 2009, About: Rodriguez: Wolverines may lose more players
As any new coach of a school with a rich tradition of winning and high expectations, RichRod will get trashed until he consistently wins big games and spends more time in the top 10 than not. Looks like he's going to be getting trashed for a long time. The man ought to be able to get a new job and switch schools without becoming a villain, but I gotta say, he sure handled it poorly. It will be interesting to see over time if he really is all that and a bag of chips. Tressle may look like a high school math teacher, but he is a class act and every fall he brings a team that is in the hunt. Most schools should be so lucky.
Posted Wednesday May 20, 2009, About: Why Bills may welcome Vick
Let him play. He's gonna suck and then he'll go away.
Posted Sunday February 15, 2009, About: Travis Ford makes apology for profanity
If they (&*% )$& ^&^$ p)**() & ^%%X%O% *&(*&, then, by the *##)(#@*%)# they should f&#^$ and then *$*()$. All kidding aside, most of these coaches assume some degree of a fatherly role to college players and some dads cuss a lot. Mine cussed more than a lot, he had it down to a fine art ... and he was the best dad ever. A few of my buddies dads never swore, but they were mazillionaires; maybe that had something to do with it. Cussing in public ... that's another story ... it doesn't look good. My dad never swore on a national stage ... but then again, he never did anything on a national stage. That dad on the Wonder Years ... I'm thinking he let it fly pretty good. I think it has to happen ... and then it has to be publicly deemed unacceptable. I don't know much about basketball so I wonder if Stoops, Saban, Carrol and Meyer cuss much. For some inexplicable reason, I have a feeling they don't. Carrol is too cool, and the only sentence Stoops knows is "Win the Big 12." Mike Ditka, now he looks like a cusser.
