If Major Wright had done his job against the Seahawks, the Bears wouldn't be in the situation they are currently in. Wright dropped an easy INT and missed several tackles in that game that would have changed the outcome.
He doesn't need to be giving the Lions any more motivation than they will already have. Knocking a division opponent out of the playoffs .......... and getting CJ 2000 yards ......... would end their season on a high note.
Why do people seem to think Forte is brittle? He's missed just 6 games in a 5 year career. That's only one more than Adrian Peterson in that span - is he brittle?
Certainly the ankle injury has definitely hampered Forte this year, but he's still just 9 yards shy of 1000 yards rushing and should be around 1400 yards from scrimmage. Not a bad season, but not at the level he showed in 2011 either.
Some people on here just don't have a clue. Forte has missed a grand total of 6 games through 5 NFL seasons. How does that translate to "brittle as hell"? What is true is the ankle has hindered him this season but he's still just 9 yards off his 3rd 1000 yard season. Not elite level production, but not that bad either.
When the Bears were successful in the last two years it is because they were RUN FIRST. They got away from the 7 step drops that only managed to get Cutler sacked. That wasn't a "Martz-like" offense that helped them win football games.
The big question is whether Mike Tice is capable of being a full time OC and how he will co-exist with Jeremy Bates.
Let's face it ............ you are talking out of your a*&.
Cutler is much more than an average QB. The Bears were 7 - 3 last year before he got hurt, and they are 14 - 5 in his last 19 starts.
The INTs have come way down in the last 3 years, in spite of playing in front of a terrible offensive line.
If the Bears offense doesn't get the job done in 2012 it will be the O-line that is their undoing, not Cutler. Unfortunately they are "hoping" that players on that line step up, they haven't added any talent this offseason.
Amazing how everyone focuses on the first part of his quote, not the second. I don't know whether its ADD or what, but he didn't say they were champs. Plus, unlike the "Dream Team" comments from Vince Young last year, Briggs acknowledged there is a lot of work to do.
I guess Briggs should have just said they were going to claw their way to mediocrity.
As far as pointing out the leading rusher for the Broncos had just 343 yards in 2008, could that have had at least a little bit to do with the fact that they put 7 RBs on IR that year?
In no particular order ........
- Selvin Young - P.J. Pope - Michael Pittman - Peyton Hillis - Ryan Torain - Andre Hall - Anthony Aldrige
For all those injuries the Broncos were a respectable 12th in rushing yards and 3rd with a 4.8 yards per carry average.
As for Chicago, even with the trade for Brandon Marshall the Bears won't go pass happy. When they've had success in the last couple of years it has been because they've focused on the run. Tice was part of that success so I highly doubt they will deviate far from that formula.
And does DarkArmadillo remember that the Broncos were one of the worst defensive teams in football when Cutler was there? Probably not. How about 28th ranked in points against in 2007 and 30th in 2008.
This is all about timing. If Jones- Drew plays out the last two years of this deal he'll be 29 heading into the 2014 season. There's no chance he'll get big money at that point.
The last two years of his deal pay him a total of about $9.4 million. JAX could probably make him happy by adding a year or two and some guaranteed money now.
But will any RB get CJ or AP money in what's become a pass-heavy league? I doubt it. It's telling that Arian Foster signed for roughly $8.5 million per year and $21 million guaranteed. Any RB that tries to get more than that contract is probably going to be disappointed.
Manning is going to have several choices if the Colts release him (which is likely). But I don't think Minny is going to interest him at all.
If the Vikings were just a QB away then it might make sense for him to go there, but they have many, many issues right now. Their secondary is a complete disaster. Their D-line is terrible other than Jared Allen, their O-line is bad, other than Harvin they have no receivers of note, AND to cap it all off their best player is coming off surgery for a torn MCL and ACL and may not be ready by the beginning of the 2012 season.
I think you hit on the key factor. Will they have the resources to upgrade that defense? Because there is no doubt there are some major holes on that side of the ball.
Spagnuolo looked like genius when he had a D-line that included Strahan, Tuck and Umenyiora.
There's no one on the Saints who comes close to any one of those 3 Giants. That's why Greg Williams was forced to blitz so often and a safety led them in sacks (Roman Harper w/ 7.5).
Yep. Watched both games. He was great against a bad Saints defense.
But he was 12 of 26 against the Giants for under 200 yards. More importantly he only completed one pass for 3 yards to a WR. And the 49ers were 1 of 13 on 3rd down. That isn't good enough.
The 49ers are a complete team ........ except at the QB position. Smith is a 6 year vet. What you saw this year is probably as good as it gets. And as I said, Smith is free agent. So if the choice was Manning (assuming he can play) or Smith ......... the choice is an easy one.
If Manning becomes a FA I think the best landing spot for him is San Fran.
Alex Smith is a FA and I don't see them giving him a long term deal. And they are a team that is built to win now. And I'm pretty sure Manning would manage to complete more than one 3 yard pass to a WR ...................
Really? Seems to me they better draft a stud CB ............ or a LB that can actually play the pass. Or a LT to replace a guy that will be 35 next year, or a C to replace a 33 year old.
Not disagreeing on the need for a RB, but no way they do it in the first round.
He doesn't need to be giving the Lions any more motivation than they will already have. Knocking a division opponent out of the playoffs .......... and getting CJ 2000 yards ......... would end their season on a high note.

Not great defensively, but keep him with the right partner and he is an asset.
Although, someone might have to duct tape Dan Snyder to a chair to keep him from calling.

DOMO ORIGATO MR. BRYZGALOV!
.......... the Sun is hot.

Now if he goes to Manning's house, cooks him breakfast, does his laundry, gives him a mani/pedicure ............... I'd say that's tampering.
This? Not so much.

Other than that things are good though.
In short, Minnesota is not a fit for Manning.

He probably deserves another chance.
