djroxalot....thompson didn't mishandle this. According to sources, after the retirement Brett reached out to Thompson and head coach McCarthy and wanted to return. The Packers were all for it. This was around the time of the owners meetings in late March. Apparently Thompson was the deciding vote saying it wasn't too late to un-retire. The Packers even went so far as chartering a jet to Mississippi later that week to bring him up to Green Bay and make it official. Two days before the meeting, Favre phoned Green Bay and backed out. While team officials were stunned by Favre's reversal, they made the decision to move on and draft his replacement, a move that Favre indicated he understood at the time.

Favre screwed this up for himself.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh the irony.....

Favre on Javon Walker when he wanted a new contract or out of Green Bay in 2005:

Javon has tremendous potential. We got to see some of that last year. The sky's the limit for that guy, and I'd be the first to defend him, but he's going about it the wrong way. What happened to honoring your contract and saying, 'Let's work as a team to see if we can get this done?' Why not go about it that way?

"Maybe I'm old-school, but I always thought you honor a contract. Sure, sometimes guys pass you up in salary, and maybe it's a lesser player, but it's all based on what a team has as far as value in that person. "I sure hope the Packers don't give into him," Favre said.

Yeah Brett....I hope they don't give into you either

as a season ticket holder, and only knowing brett favre as my qb in green bay...i still loudly and proudly say **** brett for pushing it this far. I hope Ted says if you want to play you can ride the bench behind rodgers for the next 3 years...we have the cap room to let you rot. Fact of the matter is...it never would have come to this had you given a committment instead of doing this yearly media shower on yourself. and now you put all of us through a retirement which should have ended this whole thing. I'm very disappointed in you, so much for the fact I hope you do end up leaving and the madden curse does come true, because that's what you deserve....way to turn your backs on the most loyal fan base in the league.

Plus you really don't think AP can make it through a season healthy do you?
Posted Tuesday June 10, 2008, About: Allen expects Vikings in Super Bowl
Minnesota's Defense should be one of the league's tops...but with T Jack leading the offense it just doesn't matter. And Childress is good for about 3 losses right off the bat because he's an idiot. I just don't see it in the cards....GO PACK GO

He'll now have somewhere to put his dirty overalls in while working on his land.

Wonder if Greg Maddux would waive his no trade clause to go pitch for his brother Mike? That would be interesting
Posted Wednesday May 14, 2008, About: Cubs to sign Edmonds, demote Pie
Ultimate....I agree with your statement that if Jimmy doesn't find his stroke we're in the same boat, but I was just saying if it pans out what a great move and if it doesn't Pie should get YET ANOTHER shot to come up and hit major league pitching...and he can't get better sitting on the pine so hopefully he gets better in AAA.
Posted Wednesday May 14, 2008, About: Cubs to sign Edmonds, demote Pie
I think this could turn out to be a great move. Pie will now get at bats every day down in AAA...if he gets his act together he'll be ready to go for the playoff run. Lou also said that Fukudome would be the ideal #2 hitter. Well if we get Edmonds Kosuke can move up to #2, and Lou can have his left handed bat (edmonds) still breaking up all the righty's in #5...You are telling me you wouldnt like 1. Soriano 2. Fukudome 3. Lee 4. Ramirez 5. Edmonds?

Bring him into camp at least, cut him if he's still not very good. I'd rather have him backing up Rodgers so WHEN Rodgers gets hurt we have someone that can at least keep us competitive

He's the only one that can articulate? He thought Tony Romo was named RICK ROMO...gimme a break...good riddance

Although it will never happen.... BRING BACK BOBBY KNIGHT!!!! what a way to end his career...back in Indiana!!
Posted Thursday February 14, 2008, About: Don't assume Favre will return
lambeau 50 yardline...i've seen the picture...and the thing you have to understand is he already threw the ball when the picture was taken...none of us will ever know what it was like before the ball was thrown, a split second makes a huge difference in the NFL....as for him returning I too would not care if he went. I'm a season ticket holder and yeah its been great, and we had to live with his good and bad but lately as everyone's been hitting on...the bad is outweighing the good...it doesn't matter how he played in the regular season it matters in the playoffs, just as the Patriots how much the Regular Season matters! Thanks for the memories Brett...but go home
Posted Thursday February 07, 2008, About: Mora to succeed Holmgren in Seattle
I knew this was going to spark up the racism...funny how no one thought it was an issue when a minority coach ( Caldwell) gets to be the sucessor in Indy...you don't hear anyone whining about not interviewing anyone else? It goes both ways guys...in the end the best coach will get the job...he may be black, white, green, blue whatever...there's no way a GM or owner is going to hire someone thats unqualified for the job just based on skin color

Can't really blame Minnesota, he woulda walked after this year anyways

We do need some starting pitching, also wouldn't mind bringing Lofton back to mentor Pie! Get it done Hendry
Posted Friday January 25, 2008, About: Falcons minority search questioned
The best guy gets the job! There is no way a franchise is going to hire someone over someone else purely on skin color! are you kidding me? I can't wait to see the fallout if Seattle wants to have Jim Mora be the heir to Holmgren. That would raise so many red flags because they didn't interview a minority candidate, but this wasn't an issue in Indy where Caldwell gets the reins after Dungy is retired.

This is a stupid rule now. If I were a minority candidate I would have to think twice of even accepting an interview if I knew they weren't going to hire me just so that they comply with the Rooney Rule. THE BEST COACH WILL GET THE JOB. PERIOD.
Posted Saturday December 01, 2007, About: Favre won't break start streak
If Favre starts he's playing the majority of the game, pw. It's not about the records as Favre has said in the past, but we are playing the Raiders so Favre will start play about 3 quarters and all of the reserves will be in.
