Agreed. He schooled Mir throughout the fight. Mir is a lot bigger than Cormier but was pinned against the fence eating leather for 15 min. Everyone agreed the only chance that Mir had was to get it to the ground and it never got close. Cormier is definitely one of the top HWs.
Yes, for that fight Sonnen > Silva albeit Sonnen was juiced outta his skull and Silva was hurt. If JDS had swung and clipped Cain in round 5, he'd have the win but wouldn't change who took the whipping in the fight. Same as it didn't change in the Sonnen/Spider fight.
Oh yeah, he really gave Cain a fight last time said no one. Cain beat JDS like he stole something from his momma. Not a fight that I need to see again. I'd like to see Werdum get the next shot but I think Cain would light him up on the feet.
The part that killed me about his toe was how he didn't feel it until Joe showed him, then he looked like he wanted to puke. Too bad Chael couldn't hold out 30 more secs; he'd have had a belt.. at least until the rematch. I'm hoping Weidman takes this, if nothing else just to push Andy towards Bones which will hopefully happen regardless. Dunno about the sub but I'll be glued to my tv with a beer either way. Completely agree with you on the Bigfoot-Cain fight but after that, I don't see a clear contender to Cain cause Cormier won't fight him. We could have another division of guys who can beat on each other but can't topple the champ.
I'd love to see it happen but I've got my doubts. I hate to say it but I think Silva retires w/o another loss, unless he takes the Bones fight which I don't think he will unless Dana offers him his firstborn son and a ton of cash.
While I love watching the old Vale Tudo championships from the late 90's as well as Pride, the level of brutality makes them a hard sell for network tv and many new fans. The soccer kicks, headbutts and hockey fighting you mention above are great to watch for an acclimated fan but for the sport to grow, there has to be content for the new fan to latch onto. I think bringing the old rule sets back do nothing but set back the sport and stagnate growth.
With all that being said, the no knees to a downed opponent rule needs to be cut or at least revised to make it a knee that has to be down and not a hand, otherwise fighters (Dodson among many) take advantage of it and try to get a free point.
I can't imagine that Cain/Reem would look any better than Silva/Reem. Cain would wrestle him and GNP him to death IMO. Maybe it's better that this fight was cancelled now. All the more reason for Dana to play ball with Barnett and get him in the UFC with a gift title shot in early May.
Who's next for Cain now Jim? I saw Dana saying that Bigfoot/ Cain 2 was a possibility but that beating is still to fresh in my mind to take that seriously.
Yep. I haven't whiffed on a card this badly in a long time. I honestly gave Bigfoot and Lil Nog no chance in hell. It was great to see Reem get his comeuppance though. It does kinda muddy up the HW title picture though. Who's next for Cain now?

I wish we could see the Clay from the Diego Sanchez fight. He lost but at least he was fun to watch. The first 30 sec of that fight were insane and are what started my brother in law watching MMA.
I just read that in all 29 KB and 25 MMA fights that Cowboy has had.. he's only been finished by strikes once- last night. Pettis in no joke but I wonder if Guida didn't already show Bendo how to beat Pettis, Lay on him and stay on him till the bell. It'd be an amazingly boring fight but with a challenger as dangerous as Pettis, I could see the champ taking the safe route.
Oh yeah, cause Fitch almost had GSP the last time they fought... and Maia doesn't have the standup to hang with GSP. Both of those would be every bit as one sided as you're saying GSP-Big Rig would be.
Not sure what is up with Cerrone. Anyone have any idea? It's like if he makes the fight personal, he loses focus and gets handled. Pettis is good but I just feel like something more was going on. I mean a dang good kickboxer gets TKO'd by 1 solid kick?? Granted, I've never taken a liver kick like that but it just looked strange to me. Hope Cerrone gets his head on right because when he is on, he's my favorite 155'er to watch.
Big difference between getting clipped and finished and losing a 3 round decision. Serra and JDS both had quick KO/TKOs but were exposed in the rematch. So it's not really fair to compare a flash knockout from Serra to UD losses from Riggs and Noons. Right?
All that being said, I'll agree with you that Nick is a solid 5-7 ish WW. I am probably just still irritated that Diaz got this shot over Hendricks but I guess the champ gets who the champ wants.

Stupid Bigfoot and Shad cost me lol. BTW, I don't think anyone who picked Edwards to win should lose points b/c I still think he won that fight.
