Maybe we could call him Bloody Brian? I'd drink one of those... Seems like his best always comes out when he's bleeding. LOL.
Put him in the lineup vs the Azteca (cause we're not really playing Mexico, we're playing the location), let him bleed all over the field and jump on top of Marquez to score the game-winner in the first ever "W" in Mexico City...
In a perfect world...
I love all the new attention the USMNT is getting, but it's really annoying. I mean these guys call themselves journalist and they screw up people's names, don't understand goal-differential, and expect the USMNT to bring home a WC title? Spain hasn't won one despite the best league and crop of players over the past 6-8 years, it's been a while for Argentina despite a extremely high-paid roster, the list goes on. I'll die for my colors, and I want my boys to win, but it would almost spoil our nation to do so. People would expect us to do it every time and that's not realistic for any country (save Brazil/Italy). We haven't suffered enough yet. But man it would piss the Brits off so bad if we were level with them on WC titles... I can here them now...
They could really benefit from reading some W.E.B. Dubois.
The world could.
Double-consciousness b*tches!
In Europe, it's been my experience that a lot of the prejudices are not necessarily malicious as much as it is ignorance and insensitivity. Being politically correct is just not a priority for everyday Europeans (and for South Americans too). Now, I'm over-generalizing, of course. But time and time again, while I'm vacationing in Europe, I purposely bring up race-relations because it's an academic area I've studied for a while, and I overwhelming meet people who hold prejudice views and defend them. There are laws in place to overcome inequalities in treatment and opportunity, a great first step. But their academic institutions leave much to be desired in the study of race-relations.
I wouldn't go as far as to say the government has a big problem with it; the police are not unusually harsh towards minorities. But the general public is ruthless and unashamed of their views. I try to combat it where ever I go. It's up to everyone to try to beat racism though. Jokes are one thing, but out right insults are another. Everyone has to play their part; when you here someone being racist, tell them it's not ok, even if it's not your race being insulted. A simple "hey, that's not cool man" goes a long way.
File the complaint Gooch, you're a human being and deserved to be treated as one AT ALL TIMES.
I so want this guy in our lineup. He does make me nervous, but he runs like an animal and doesn't ever stop. I was for sure he was gonna blow a lung or something. I think he's miles above Pearce, who i only noticed was even playing when he was getting beat.
He was a young kid and couldn't handle the previous pressure. Now he's matured and is ready to test the water. I don't even want to discuss how he disappears in the biggest games and shies away from physical play. LD needs to be pushed out of his comfort zone more, and a switch to Europe will do just that. No one there is going to kiss his arse.
He's got more potential than we would like to admit. For a bunch of people who bash the heck out of him we sure do have a lot riding on him producing for the USMNT. Hate him or love him, when LD does well the US does well.
