You second tier programs do not understand the importance of having a coach that actively and willingly places ALL ASPECTS of that position of being a head coach for one of the most storied basketball programs in the history of college basketball. You cannot comprehend it, because you just hope to get to the tourney while programs and its fanbases at schools like Kentucky, UNC, UCLA, Kansas and Indiana expect to cut down nets.

Tennessee is not a product that will ever be in that concept. Heck even the team of the decade (PUKE-er I mean DUKE) is not officially one of the Big Brothers of college basketball...so yep...our leash is shorter...because our expectations are greater than second tir prorams such as yours.

I truly don't understand some people. The UVA job could have been his last stop and could have been a great combination. He and his wife Donna both were reared in VA and have many family members still in VA.

Having seen what he did for the community and Basketball program in Kentucky; I coud only imagine what great experiences the people of VA could have experienced from such a quality man, coach and father.

glad to see that Tubby has decided to recruit again. That is what cost him the 'running out" of Kentucky. Sending his assistants {and their families} on recruiting trails. He had been non-existent in recruits homes for the last 2-3 years until the very end. Gillespie is there from DAY 1!

I am a Kentuckian who is a Tubby patriot. I know what a fine man he is; what a wonderful "bench coach" he is...BUT...he became somewhat complacent in the Big Blue Nation and expected himself to be able to make every recruit better and recruits to come to him. That, of course, is not quite as prevalent as in the "yesteryears" of the UK nation.

So, my wife/cousin and my illiterate toothless children will bask in his ability to be a gentleman AND a coach. Even though he will be stuck in the state of Minny where the cold covers the obvious narcissistic attitudes.
