What is more pathetic is the role of the parents, who generated all of the problems at Arkansas for the coach, team and specific players. They forced Mustian's release so that he could go to a better (?) football school. Maybe they should have been worried about their son's education since this will serve him far longer than his throwing arm. It is understandable why a 19 y.o. athlete act like an idiot when he has parents like Mustain's.

I agree with JRM74! Ohio State is playing New Mexico State this year because they will come to the 'Shoe. I am an OSU fan, but I cannot believe that all of these games with NMSU are really going to help with recruiting or the polls. This is all about dollars and cents -- not good football.

If Clarett had stayed at Ohio State and helped them win another NC, he would have been able to write his own ticket in Ohio. The stupidity of Clarett was that he did not maximize his college years, but believed that his small body and bad shoulders would get him far in the NFL. Archie Griffin, on the other hand, maximized his time, remained a good soldier and after finding out that he was too small for the NFL, was made Associate Athletic Director at OSU.

Who is going to trust this guy? He was rather insignificant in the CFL last year and certainly will need time to get in "game shape." I can't believe that there are not a few guys on the practice squad of various teams who could contribute right away more than Williams.

Keep in mind that Troy Smith joined OSU as an athlete. The qb of the future was supposed to be Justin Zwick. I hope the kid signs with OSU, but I believe that most of these "rankings" for high school kids -- still growing physically and maturing emotionally -- are a bit of a crap shoot -- especially at the qb position.

I like both of these guys, but if they wanted to play together so badly, they should have stayed at Ohio State for another year. If they are eager to get to the NBA, then they should be made to understand the realities of basketball as profession, not basketball as AAU ball or packaged recruitment. I have some ideas about with whom I would like to work but unfortunately the realities of most professions dictate hard choices like -- do you want to work or don't you? Welcome to the real world Greg and Mike.

I always enjoy these PR type stories. Is Benson really "ready" to become a lead back or are the Bears "willing" him to be a lead back? How can you tell based on a few football drills? Did he host a BBQ or save a cat caught in a tree? What is the basis for this newfound leadership claim?

I don't see how a team can "target" a player for the '08 Draft at this point??? Theoretically the Cowboys could "target" every top collegian, some cheerleaders and maybe the top math student at MIT, but there is a lot of football to be played before the Draft and McFadden may fall off the charts a la Quentin Moses or another back might make a big push.
