like the story alluded to, he was being giving chances a lot last season. i know i wondered why the guy was in the line-up so much. apparently it was practice, so hopefully his potential will finally translate into some on-field success.
i don't blame the team as much as i did at one point for not taking receiever. they've invested a lot of picks over the years and need to see if any of those guys will pan out. and while Thomas and Kelly and those guys may be good pros, none of them were can't miss #1's that'd solve our problems.
i will say i am starting to wish our personnel department would be a little more aggressive in restocking positions before we get the point of needing quick fixes. which brings me to that Chris Johnson pick... but that's a whole 'nother story...
stick that ****. no thanks.
i don't think injuries hurt him that much. everyone gets hurt in the NFL today. my guess is either his asking price is too high for someone who will probably be a backup or the way he kind of mailed it in when he had to compete for playing time. when he's healthy he's great and could start for a lot of teams.
i just look at our depth chart of chunky as Lendale White and rookie Chris Henry and would be glad to have Chris back.
we weren't/aren't a championship caliber team but we're far from terrible. we just have an old man as an owner who has no spirit for his team. he does right by us for the most part but he's been trying to sell the team to get a return on his investment. he doesn't love basketball, it's about the money. he fired our coach and didn't spend anything in free agency to save money. right now if he can sell the team he'll make a huge profit so he's handcuffed our spending to protect that interest. not to mention the fact that Jerry West never wanted to be here and basically just took our checks.
with all that said Gasol is an amazing scoring and can rebound. he's just not big on the dirty work. Horford would be a perfect fit next to him. people are so down on Gasol and i'm never a big fan of seemingly soft players but 20/10 guys don't grow on trees. our 2 guard, rookie Tarence Kinsey came up huge last year so that's set. i'd like to see us sign someone like Mo Williams to play the point but Kyle Lowry has potential.
we're still a few years from a conference finals or championship team but we're a solid draft and one or two free agent pickups away from being back in the playoffs. we've got young talent, depth, they all love to run and with a member of the Phoenix coaching staff who also is a **** with big men apparently the future actually looks bright.
it will be much brighter when we get new ownership that's more involved but for now things are as good as can be expected.
my one complaint about our coaching staff is the impression i get that they played favorites a lot... the whole thing with Billy Volek. we don' t seem to foster a lot of competition. then when guys are forced to compete they whine about it because they thought the job was their's.
He later lost both of those teeth to his wife in the divorce."
now THAT'S funny.
all i can say is hopefully it's not a huge majority view or something we need to go on about. just one very ignorant person named "Lukas."
ambition is fine and it is his money but what could he actually be aiming for? a succesful fill-in league? ultimately airing on Sundays? i wouldn't sink all that money into a fill in and it's foolish to think he could compete on Sundays. even assuming it could be done where are you planning to go with it? just seems pointless all around.
you went into QB's treatment and Favre. that has nothing to do with whether or not there are enough good QB's to go around. QB was just one example anyway. i notice you ignored the other positions i named.
Cuban is already trying to lay claim to participants in the NFL draft. obviously he thinks there's a surplus because otherwise where is the talent going to come from? the only reason i even say surplus is because i'm not dignifying the guys in the CFL, AFL or NFL Europa as being good enough to form an entertaining league. so where else is he going to get players? i say surplus because the NFL is the only pro football league that's consistently entertaining so he must assume there are enough guys to fill NFL rosters and then his 8 teams too.
that's my whole point. any talent would choose the NFL first so he must assume there's going to be enough talent left over after NFL rosters are filled to fill his roster. i say that extra talent doesn't exist and i used QB as one of the positions to illustrate that there's not even enough talent to fill NFL rosters so there can't be enough to fill another league.
i should have said you're basically not debating the same things i am. i don't know you enough to judge your knowledge of football from a couple comments. i do apologize for the mentally challenged thing.
and if you actually READ you'd see that my point was there's not enough talent for TWO leagues. my original statement was we've just now gained enough talent to have parity in the NFL. you know parity means every team is good enough to win any year. and the NFL has NOT always had enough talent that's why they were forced to merge with the AFL because they were leaching their talent and ONE MORE TIME for the mentally challenged like you. they're aren't enough QBs, WRs, LTs, DEs, or CBs for each team to have solid starters now. at minimum there's certainly not enough of a surplus to feed another league.
i think things are pretty good the way they are. we just miss football in the offseason.

yea that's why even now there are a handful of teams that don't even have proven starting quarterbacks. there's just enough talent in the league as it is now. there's certainly NOT ENOUGH FOR TWO or more. if there were we'd be watching NFL Europe or CFL games right now.
as far as the farm system it's a nice idea but a football season is too much of a grind. Jordan Farmar became the first player to play and NBDL and NBA game on the same day this season. could you imagine playing two or more football games in a day? a week even? the closest thing to other talent or a farm system is college. that's why you can't come out early. that is your farm league. when you get there you're close to ready physically and should have enough experience to pick up offenses and defenses at the next level.
the obstacle isn't the NFL being an unstoppable juggernaut (even though it is lol) it's the amount of talent. the only way to compete with the NFL is to put a quality product on the field ie good, watchable games. after the NFL take their guys there aren't enough players left in the world to supply another league. maybe if you could compile CFL players, NFL Europa guys and college drop-outs you might be able to scrape together a 8 team league but most NFL Europa guys come from the NFL, the CFL has lastest fine this long and college players can just drop to D-2 or something. the only other option would be waiving any age limit and getting guys to join your league instead of going to college and that ain't gonna happen.
i understand those saying it's his money but there certainly are better things he could do with it and another football league will CERTAINLY FAIL. this isn't just a case of something that's been done. this is something that's been attempted repeatedly by people with more money, foresight and planning than Cuban. ain't gonna happen and seriously would anyone chose to watch that over an NFL game? no. it's just fantasy ppl being greedy or some of us wanting something to watch during the offseason. pointless.
i respect him as an owner because he does what he feels is necessary to help his organization. like i said before if he has a billion or so burning a whole in his pocket buy the Raiders off Al Davis. put a team in LA. start with something like that and if he's still not satisfied or still thinks he can compete with the NFL go for it lol
