just say no to Pettitte and Mussina ... and to Clemens ... but do NOT get Sabathia ... look how he faltered at the end of the season ...
Posted Monday September 29, 2008, About: Redskin's celebration irks Cowboy
the Cowboys, TO's team, are whiners, pure and simple. they strut and crow when they win, and they moan and groan when they're beaten. they're even more annoying than the Patriots, and that's saying a lot. at least the Patriots took their beating by the Giants with some class. wouldn't it be nice to go one entire NFL season without having to listen to TO and hear about Romo's romances and great 'ability'

can't unload Jeter or ARod, although neither has performed as expected/need for the Yankees to get to postseason play ... keep Wang, Nady, Ransom, Abreu, Matsui, Posada, Mussina [one more year only], Joba, Rivera ... shop Cano ... acquire Teixeira ... acquire REAL centerfielder ... swap Girardi for Mattingly ...

Boohoo! pretty boy Brady is hurt. now he can spend all his time with his glamor models and father even more children out of wedlock ... wouldn't want football to get in the way of his stud service/escort enterprises ... will the media still follow his every move? or is this 'injury' being hyped so he can have a big 'return' to save the day?

who better to acknowledge the reality of the Yankees' situation than the man most responsible for it by virtue of his dismal performances in the clutch [RISP] all year long ...

keep talking trash, all you OhioState folks ... that's what keeps hope alive after a lackluster performance ... I believe USC will win this game and that's where the truth resides -- on the playing field. pre-game demeanor as witnessed by a 'recruit' really means nothing. one would think that a junior who has played more than 1 game would know that.

the rule against throwing the ball in the air is straight forward and unambiguous -- he threw the ball in the air, so he gets a penalty. if the call had been made earlier in the game, would everyone be whining now? if the extra point had not been blocked, would everyone be whining now? if Washington had scored more often in the first half, none of this would have happened. suck it up, folks! I watched another game when the refs threw the flag when a QB scored and simply twirled the ball away ... no outrage there! get over it. BYU's victory should not be diminished because an official made a call that was correct, and then BYU's guys blocked the extra point. who's to say they wouldn't have blocked it if no penalty had been called. BYU outplayed Washington the entire game, and the win was ... a WIN.

probably Petrovia now wins MVP -- typical BoSox benefitting from injury to others
Posted Saturday September 06, 2008, About: AL home run leader out for season?
am I the only one who sees a striking resemblance, especially at the plate, in his stance, between Quentin and JoseCanseco?
Posted Wednesday September 03, 2008, About: Steinbrenners want Cashman back
BobBoston -- considering how much you bash the Yankees and root for the BoSox, you should really keep your comments re: Yankees management to yourself -- spend your time working BoSox items, please.
Posted Wednesday September 03, 2008, About: Steinbrenners want Cashman back
Cashman failed to get Santana, and failed to get Teixeira -- he did get Nady -- he approved the early rewarding of Cano, and that's failed miserably -- he signed Sexson - ugh! - and Pudge has not been productive. his judgment is generally wrong. IanKennedy will never be a big league pitcher, and where's Melky now? Pettitte has been a major, expensive disappointment. let him go. almost any new GM could look good spending the Steinbrenners' money -- for a while, anyway.
Posted Wednesday August 27, 2008, About: Double Play-Rod hearing lots of boos
it must be nice to continue to make $28mil and date young girls even when failing at the plate and then simply saying, 'oh yeah, I stunk ... now where's my paycheck and where's tonight's bimbo?' -- my best guess right now is that the Yankees will never succeed in post season so long as ARod is on the team -- he's a drain both emotionally and financially
Posted Wednesday August 27, 2008, About: Kidd gives gold medal to casino
even if not a 'gambling' thing, this 'gift' is certainly symbolic of major league sports today and its devotion to 'big money' rather than true sporting competition and everyday fans -- salaries, revenues, prices are skyhigh, while the game has become 'show time' and predictable.
Posted Sunday August 24, 2008, About: Yankees to look different in '09
Nady, Jeter, ARod, Abreu, Matsui, Wang, Mussina, Chamberlain, Rivera -- they're the only guys I'd bring back for sure. Let everyone else truly compete. Get Teixeira. get a center fielder. no to Manny, no to Sabathia.
Posted Saturday August 23, 2008, About: Chamberlain faces 30-pitch test
the squib was from the NYPost, which is expected to have daily notes about the Yankees, Mets, Giants, Jets, etc etc ... that SI picked it up caters to both Yankees-haters and Yankees-lovers ... remember that the Yankees franchise is the most famous in all of sports.

just Manny being Manny, i guess ... and the LATimes falls for it too. notice that Manny hasn't cut his hair yet.

Posted Wednesday August 20, 2008, About: A-Rod playing the female field
ARod's failures at the plate are costing the Yankees a shot at post-season play, and his screwed up personal life is no doubt a contributing factor. my guess is that the Yankees will never win a title so long as ARod is on the team. he's now reached the point where he gets money and women and sports analyst's accolades without having to actually deliver in the clutch, so why not enjoy it?
Posted Tuesday August 12, 2008, About: Girardi overrules Joba's rehab
if Girardi is as 'correct' about Joba as he has been in his linups -- sitting Damon for Christian, sitting Giambi for Sexson -- and starting Kennedy just recently -- then Joba should be worried -- although more rest most likely won't hurt -- doing nothing won't hurt as much as doing something like continuing to field a team of non-hitters -- all those mistakes and lost opportunities in the first half of the season are coming back to haunt the Yankees. to be sure, the injuries have had an impact, but Cabrera is a disgrace, and ARod and Jeter are both playing the worst with RSIP that they ever had ... as another said, where in the world has the Steinbrenners' $200 million gone, and how pitiful the return is on that investment in terms of W-L ... I guess the Yankees as a franchise are still making money, but as a winning baseball team, they sure are falling flat.
Posted Friday August 08, 2008, About: Schmidt's L.A. return 'longshot'
why rush it? just let him rehab and come back next spring ... the Dodgers aren't going anywhere near the playoffs anyway.
