I'm glad he is working to get better. His coaches and defensive teammates have to be thrilled.
I don't know how he'll pan out in the NFL, but talent with hard work will usually result in success. The Redskins might be a scary team in a season or two.
The same people who have a problem with the "one and done" are the same ones who have a problem paying players who generate millions of dollars for their schools.
Why?
So they get a scholarship? The value received is not worth the value provided. It's not like these guys NEED college to become professionals in their chosen careers. We're not talking about becoming surgeons. The fact of the matter is that someone decided that these athletes needed college to dribble a ball within the context of a GAME.
Only football and basketball have these restrictions. I suspect it's because people don't like the idea of young, black men making millions without having to go to college "like the rest of us". I expect to see comments tearing down my argument because of the "race card".
If black people "play the race card" too often, please direct me to where I can opt out of the game. Because I'd like to be able to live my life without the constant reminder of my minority status.
No coincidence that this breaks as the Saints, Payton and Loomis are appealing their suspensions today.
Up until this point, I'd thought Commissioner Goodell had overreacted with the severity of the situations, but after hearing the audio, I'm sick to my stomach and think that he might not have done enough. Maybe it's my 49er bias showing (which I willingly admit), but he's talking about injuring men. Husbands, fathers, sons. So I asked myself, "Would I be this disgusted if it were a 49ers coach talking about taking out Saints players?" The answer was a resounding yes.
For what? To win a game? There's no place in the NFL for this stuff.
The public reaction will determine how the hammer falls. Remember, we'd just HEARD/READ about players throwing down cash to take people out. But now there is audio of an NFL coach talking about taking people out like it's everyday business.
It's one thing to try and bring the pain, but trying to inflict injury is inexcusable.
Once Tebow was announced as starting QB, my thought was, "Wow...Denver might only win 5 games this year".
I NEVER thought the Broncos would be knocking off the Steelers in a playoff game. Be honest...are you really going to be surprised if the Jets are in the playoffs this year, 47% completion or not?
Something tells me that if Manning became a Jet, he'd unify that locker room pretty quickly. Plus, he'd take a lot of pressure off of the defense there.
The only downside I can think of about Manning to NY (Jets) is that Rex would start talking again.
Trading up for receivers never works. Rookie receivers are rarely "can't miss" prospects. Their strengths depend on having a great QB to get the ball to them. It's better to draft in the later rounds and develop them within the organization.
Who'd have thought we'd be discussing the possibility of Indy cutting Peyton Manning?
I'm a Niners fan and want to see Smith develop a better relationship with the wideouts he has. Vernon Davis can't be your entire passing game. Although if we can get another tight end (similar to New England's Gronkowski), it could be interesting.
I think the benefit of a full offseason and training camp in the same system (imagine that!) will improve the Niners offense.
The Bolts have burned any sort of goodwill with VJax. I think they'll have to franchise him in order to keep him.
I know. He should have kept quiet, collected his 28 million dollar check, and then came out and said, "There's no way I'm going to groom someone for my job. I'm a football player. Not a coach."
Now, I think he's gone. Cutting Polian was the first step in that process.

Oh that's right...Bronco fans aren't used to winning the division. Don't worry...normalcy will return.
You guys need A LOT more than Peyton Manning.

Manning to Fitzgerald, or Heap would immediately place them as the NFC's Super Bowl XLVII favorites.
Another downside, we'd have more "inconsistencies in officiating" to all but guarantee a P. Manning v T. Brady Super Bowl.

I think my head would explode, Big Ben for Peyton, straight up.
Just sayin....
But I'd rather see him in San Fran.
I do wish it were an AFC team that was looking to hire him. I want to see him beat the Chargers down regularly.
