My first thought was to dream about the Cards making a play for him. He could slide right into the Cards lineup in the two hole ahead of Pujols, put Khalil Green down around the 7 hole, and you???ve got an offense capable of some very good things, and the best defensive double play combination in the Central.

My second thought was that Young is due about $62 million over the next five seasons and there is no way in hell the Cards would ever spend that kind of cash on a second baseman, even if he is a career .300 hitter and absolutely perfect fit to hit in front of Albert. The Cards would much rather plug in the corpse of Adam Kennedy and hope Pujols once again carries them to respectability.

I???d much rather just accelerate the timing on Josh Pastner than give Theus a chance to make Tucson his next stepping stone back into the pros. Remember this was the guy who said he was a ???pro guy coaching in college??? when he ditched New Mexico State for the Sacramento Kings.
