It depends on what they trade. If they can get away with trading Beasley and Johnson, than they are in good position. Just want to add though that LAC gets their 2012 draft pick. Not sure how much more rebuilding they can do when they don't have a protected pick. Now I'm not saying they should trade their assets to spite LA, but they'd have to tank two more seasons for a chance at getting a good draft pick.
Kahn once called him overpaid in an interview. That's actually a view I agree with considering that Martin has a history of injury problems. Basically he'd be Minnesota's only legit true shooting guard running in the fastest pace in the NBA.
They shouldn't pursue Nash unless they can get Gortat as well. Ellis is a great player to pursue and I would even throw Iguodala's name in the mix. Minnesota though shouldn't be too attached to Beasley. If they can bump him for one of those guys, than they should pull the trigger.
Oddly enough, that hasn't been the case in the last few drafts. Here's all the #2 picks from 2000 to 2010: Turner, Thabeet, Beasley, Durant, Aldridge, Marvin Williams, Okafor, Milicic, Jay Williams, Chandler, Swift. There's a few exceptions obviously.
USA is having too many close calls. They barely managed to slip past Brazil and Spain because those two teams couldn't make a shot at the buzzer. If USA keeps this up, than they might be in for a unpleasant surprise in the future.
I agree with practically everything you said about Rubio except him not being a good defender. He's not going to be first team all defense team, but he can become a reliable guy on D. He's got a very quick reaction time, great size (height and wingspan), practically ambidextrous, he racks up plenty of steals in the passing lane and he doesn't need to gamble on steals either, and he flops too.
I was watching a Spanish feed of the game, and I thought Rubio must have been injured because starting Calderon made absolutely no sense. At the very end, Rubio's plus-minus was plus-22. I can't remember Calderon's so well, I believe it was like -22 or -23. Not too shabby for a guy who is younger than almost every player in the 2010 draft (with the exception of Bradley).
Kahn better hope that the Spaniards legit.
