Fair enough. I agree he wasn't his best last season. Still did a good job keeping things in check when he did play. I think he's a more skilled fighter than Macintyre, its just Mac has a huge size advantage on a lot of people. I love Engelland but when he's in the box for 5 minutes, it really shortens up the d-pairings.

What is your ideal enforcer then? Godard dressed for the tough games and stood up for teammates regardless of the fine (think Rosehill running Crosby against Toronto and Johnson in NY). In my opinion Goddard had some really good bouts while in Pittsburgh. Don't know about last year, but it wasn't long ago when Godard was a top 5 scrapper in the league.

Doumit at first is terrible. They tried it last year. For some reason, the guy has no defense and can't catch, this is surprising to me because he's a catcher.

Regarding attendance, I read that its up about 40% from last year; averaging about 3-4000 more fans per game.

Lyle "Overpaid" has been dragging all year. He's good defensively but just can't seem to hit this year, while Garrett Jones has some offensive upside with no defense... may they can combine the two for a serviceable first baseman?
Posted Saturday July 23, 2011, About: Brother charged in Boogaard's death
The article stated that Aaron won't receive a serious homicide or drug distribution charge because it can't be proven that the 1 pill he gave Derek caused his death. It also said they found a large amount of percocet, oxycontin, and oxycodone, as well as alcohol in his system. Apparently, Derek had quite the stash and Aaron flushed it before the police got there so he's going to be charged with tampering with the scene.
Posted Saturday July 23, 2011, About: Brother charged in Boogaard's death
Targeting Aaron is kind of a cop out I think. Doctors and therapists readily give this stuff out, they need to reevaluate the system but that will never happen because its a multi-million dollar industry. Also, Derek most likely knew what it was and still decided to drink in excess.
Posted Thursday July 21, 2011, About: Pence suitors lining up?
Please no Beltran... I think the Mets will ask for way too much if said team doesn't pick up his salary option. Not to mention, he'll most likely bolt after the season's over to New York/Boston if he ended up in Pittsburgh. I think Pence is a much better option, simply because of the control they would have over him. I don't think the Buccos are in the position to be trading away a boat load of prospects for a rental, they still need to be working on their farm system. In a dream scenario, they'd be interested in one of Doumit, Snyer, or Overbay to sweeten the deal. Huntington needs to find the balance between winning now and how much he mortgages the future.
Posted Friday July 15, 2011, About: Pirates may actually be buyers this time
Not to mention all the people about to come off the DL. This team may surprise again in the 2nd half.
Posted Wednesday July 13, 2011, About: Angels after power bat, nearly landed Pirates' Jones
Ya, except for the fact that all those recent trades were a part of Huntington's rebuilding strategy for the current team. Tell me, how are Nate Mclouth, Xavier Nady, and Jason Bay all doing right now? Also, all of those Pirates teams that were trading for prospects were well out of contention by the trade deadline. The Bucs may not even have to do anything at the deadline because they'll soon be getting Tabata, Doumit, and Alvarez back in to the lineup.
Posted Friday July 08, 2011, About: Pirates eye 'external options'
It will be nice getting Doumit, Pedro, and Tabata back. If Pedro can replicate what he did in the last half of last year, the big bat problem is solved IMO. If they are going to make a deal, it needs to be for someone that they can definitely sign in the off season. They aren't in the position to be giving up prospects for rentals. I would be ok with dealing Lincoln and even Allie if the right deal comes along. Definitely don't want to see any deal involving Jameson Taillon. They need to hang on to that kid.
Posted Friday May 20, 2011, About: Top draft talent asks Pirates to lay off
From a business standpoint, the Pirates are one of the most successful teams in the league. Forbes did a report saying that they could not sell a single ticket and still turn a profit thanks to sponsorships, revenue sharing, etc... It just so happens that Nutting owns the local ski resort and instead of turning that operating profit into better players, he buys 10 new ski lifts. I think part of Overbay's deal was that he had to work at the Seven Springs concession stand in the off season.
Posted Friday May 20, 2011, About: Top draft talent asks Pirates to lay off
I don't believe the Pirates will go after another young pitcher as they took two last year (Taillon and Alley) and also got Luis Heredia, another fairly young prospect from Latin America. They might add someone a little older that can come up sooner like Gerritt Cole or Danny Hultzen.

As for Bundy, I hate when players complain about where they are picked. I think they should just man up and try to be part of building a good team. If they picked Bundy he likely wouldn't be up for another 3-4 years and who knows what the situation will be like then. He shouldn't worry about getting paid either, Nutting spent 12 mil on those 3 young pitchers I mentioned.

I like to be optimistic and I think the Buccos are a few pieces away from turning this ship around. They've shown some flashes of good baseball this spring and the pitching has been a decent surprise seeing as how they were supposed to be the weakness. Correia, Morton, and MacDonald have been putting up some good starts and Maholm has even been pitching well even though he doesn't have the wins in those 2-1, 3-2 games.
Posted Tuesday May 03, 2011, About: Right now, all bets off for Crosby
Ya, but they can help reduce the blow. Check out Messier's project making new helmets. They look kind of goofy, but players should value their safety over style.

Also, players need to actually tighten their chin straps and use their mouth pieces... not just chew on them. See: Patrick Kane.
Posted Tuesday May 03, 2011, About: Right now, all bets off for Crosby
I think players need to be forced by the league to tighten their chin straps and maybe use bigger, more supportive ones (think football chin strap). Also, they need to reduce the size and hardness of shoulder and elbow pads.
Posted Monday April 04, 2011, About: Pens looking at Wilkes-Barre sniper?
Is this the guy that does those Dany Heatley videos? "I'm Dany F*ckin Heatley. That d**che Spezza didn't pass me the puck, what's he thinking?"

Crosby looks physically ready to come back. Teams are ruthless in the playoffs though, and will do anything to gain an advantage. I remember a certain instance in '08 when the Mule was coming back from a concussion and Gary Roberts greeted him with a punch to the head.

"Pens may need captain from IR." <-- There, fixed the title for ya.

Take care man.

This may sound bad, I don't know, but I'd rather not make it than lose. It sucks that much more getting SO close. I'm not talking about this anymore, back to Dez Bryant haha.

Agreed. I'm finally almost over the Super Bowl loss. It just wasn't meant to be this year. Binge drinking really helped in the followings weeks though.

When did I say I hate Big Ben? Don't put words in my mouth. I love the fact that Ben is the quarterback of the Steelers. I wouldn't take anyone else.

Not a lesson of banging women, just being in the wrong place at the wrong time. He has to understand that there are gold diggers and can't be putting himself in those situations. Trust me, I wasn't one of the ones calling for his head last off season. But it wasn't the smartest thing to do.

Funny, I don't believe I ever heard Roethlisberger say anything like that.
