I feel pitchers especially are rushed to the majors. Everyone loves to talk about how pitchers in the old days threw 300 innings but they also waited longer before reaching the majors. Nolan Ryan didn't hit 200 innings in a year until he was 25.
Lemon was the most laid back manager I've ever seen. Perfect for after Billy who imploded that year.
You're right about Girardi.
I would have liked to see Piniella and Howser a better shot but that was in Steinbrenners "Trade for the washed up guys" years and I don't think anyone could have won.
The Yankee core players came of age under Torre so I guess he gets no credit for their development.
I'm not saying he is a Hall of Fame manager but the to say he sucks is wrong. And the one year he had a decent team in Atlanta they went to the playoffs.
No one could have won with those Mets teams he managed.
