I've just forwarded your request to Bug Selig. Expect it to be implemented within the next year.

Posted Friday August 28, 2009, About: Lions QB race still wide open
Yeah, Culpepper should be the guy who takes multiple shots to the head this season, not the kid.

Maybe they can get Lomas Brown and Kevin Glover out of retirement to shore up the line a little...
Posted Friday August 28, 2009, About: Favre annoyed by Vikings rumors
Yes, a Favre story! Thanks T&R!

Thanks for weighing in, Dana. We were all waiting for you to do so.
Posted Friday August 28, 2009, About: Iverson: I'd love to play in Memphis
I can't even imagine Randolph and AI having to exist in the same offense. If this happens it should be hilarious.
Posted Wednesday August 26, 2009, About: Red Wing looking to Russia
Grand Rapids is going to have to find another guy to fill seats now.
Posted Tuesday August 25, 2009, About: Will Bertuzzi be 'toxic' as Red Wing?
It "may" make him less effective? That's a pretty bold prediction, Nostradamus.

The fact is that without his grit (which he left embedded in the back of Moore's skull), Bert is a big body with OK hands and little else. The Wings could use a guy to replace a broken and battered Holmstrom, but you can see Bert has no spark and won't be assuming that role, or any role other than depth.
Posted Friday July 17, 2009, About: Goodwill move may save Hudler
Holland offered Hudler $3 mil a year, with Hudler's choice of anywhere from 3-5 years term. I think that's pretty fair for the guy, given his role in Detroit.

Another factor here is that Hudler hasn't been given a big role in Detroit. He only got about 13 minutes of ice time per game last season, and he likely wants more than that. He can get it in the KHL for sure, but I don't think it's a real smart move on his part. With his lack of size and strength, it's not going to take many hits before he starts to break down.

Remember when everybody was saying "Pay the guy, Seattle!"?

I still want to know what Favre is eating for breakfast. Come on T&R, get me that info! I need more Favre!
Posted Thursday July 09, 2009, About: BC star unlikely to sign with Bruins
That's just weird. If you're the Bruins, how can you not get a seventh round pick signed? If you're the player, how do you justify this, having no further college eligibility left?
Posted Tuesday July 07, 2009, About: Report: Favre pays deposit on Minnesota condo
I'd really love to know what Favre is eating for breakfast every day. Can we have a thread about that? Thanks T&R.
Posted Monday July 06, 2009, About: Why Rasheed picked Celtics
That'd be hilarious. Every NBA meeting would have to begin with one of those huddle dances with him in the middle.
Posted Wednesday July 01, 2009, About: Rangers going on spending spree?
I agree. 6 is the floor for these guys. A team would be better served giving it to the healthy Hossa than to Glass Gaborik, but the latter will want his cash too.
Posted Friday June 26, 2009, About: Stanton's not a fit for Lions
I wonder if Millen ever envisioned Stanton throwing to R. Williams and C. Rogers, with M. Williams at TE.

Hey, with receivers that great, who cares who's throwing to them, right? Right?
Posted Friday June 26, 2009, About: Rangers in hunt for Heatley
The Rangers could use the guy, of course... but this still smells like a Sather move, in that the Rangers would take on payroll they can ill afford. Now is when the Redden and Drury contracts really hurt.
Posted Friday June 19, 2009, About: Caps or KHL in Fedorov's future?
It's true that the relationship there is pretty estranged now, but like RedWing55 said, if Feds had stayed in Detroit, he'd be loved just as much as Lidstrom - probably not as much as Yzerman, but as much as Lidstrom.

While he was in Detroit, the perception was that he was a hugely talented guy who was prone to sleepwalking through games from time to time. When you held him up next to hard workers like Yzerman, he suffered in comparison, and maybe he couldn't deal with that. But it would all be water under the bridge if he'd stayed. Someone of his talent deserves to have their number up somewhere, but because of his bouncing around from team to team, it's unlikely to happen for him, and that's a shame.
Posted Friday June 19, 2009, About: Caps or KHL in Fedorov's future?
If this was a younger Fedorov, I'd bet on him going to Russia. Early in his career, I don't think he valued success all that much. Case in point is having jumped ship from the Wings, and before that, signing that ridiculous offer sheet from the Canes. Back then, he was clearly about the money and about himself.

Now, though, I think he sees himself more realistically, as a borderline top-six and a guy who can mentor the young Russian kids on his team, but also as a guy who is on his way out and is on a team that has a decent chance to make it all the way. For that reason, I think he'll be back with the Caps.
Posted Tuesday June 16, 2009, About: Red Wings want Hossa at right price
The Wings are bound to be in transition a little bit in the next few years. Draper, Maltby, Holmstrom, Osgood, and Lidstrom are out this offseason or next. I don't think they can afford to be top-heavy with contracts during this period of time, or else they may not be able to identify and lock up the young talent that'll be the supporting cast for the core. If Hossa wants to sign for a reasonable figure ($4-$5 mil cap hit), or for 2-3 years, that'd be OK with me, but anything more in dollars or term and he can hit the bricks as far as I'm concerned.
Posted Wednesday April 29, 2009, About: Captain points out Flyers' problems
Absolutely true. I'm not a Flyers fan, nor do I dislike them, but I've watched many of their games this season because I live in the greater Philly area. The one thing I kept noticing was that their passes weren't timely, and weren't good when they weren't timely (the defenders would usually close on the target and deflect it or pressure the recipient into a bad decision).

By the end of the Pens series, they seemed unable to move into the offensive zone without chipping the puck in and going after it, which limited them greatly. I think their inability to pass through neutral ice had a lot to do with that.

That said, I don't know where they begin to alter the makeup of the team to add those kinds of playmakers.
