So weird that the guy can't compete when they go into the season expecting, in a BEST CASE SCENARIO, Ryan Sweeney to get a starting job as a corner outfielder. And Mike Aviles starting at SS every day.
And then keep sticking him with an outfield made up of guys who really shouldn't even be blocking players in AAA. Trades for Byrd and Lillibridge. Give him Nick Punto.
Not saying the season isn't his fault, but the lineups this season have been pretty damn embarrassing for a lot of the season. Injuries or not, there is no reason guys like Darnell McDonald are in the major leagues.
Great. Lets waste starts on a crappy pitcher who flamed out on the team multiple times (first as a closer, then as an elite pitcher then as an average pitcher) instead of letting guys like Morales and Doubront or some minor leaguers with POTENTIAL.
That attitude is exactly why we have very little major league ready talent, and keep running out craptacular players like MacDonald and Aviles every year. Admit you've lost, and season the young guys for next year.
It really seemed the Sox were getting it when they developed Youkilis, Ellsbury and Pedroia....and yet, here we are with them once again relying on 30 year old journeymen who have LONG since "peaked".....
Quit signing guys like Ross and Sweeney, quit wasting time on guys like McDonald, stop even CONSIDERING trading for Marlon Byrd AND START SEASONING YOUR MINOR LEAGUE PLAYERS.
PLAY GUYS WITH AN UPSIDE NOT GUYS ON THE DOWNSIDE OF THEIR CAREERS.

He is sitting on 432, which means he needs 68 to land on 500....
He is also sitting on 35 years old with 64 HRs over the last FIVE YEARS.
How exactly to you suppose he manages 500?
AMAZING!
I'm surprised the dink who wrote the article didn't include Nick Swisher too.

In fact, even through a few trying seasons, Beckett has never been as bad as Lowe was in 2004.
And he's an even worse pitcher now.
Not that I'm in favor of the move though....I'd rather see their best option from AA starting than any of these also-rans.
Must've reset.
Bet they don't even win 75 games.
