Man. Poor Yankees. When are they ever going to catch a break and have a level playing field?
Posted Saturday October 10, 2009, About: Who will Red Sox start in Game 4?
The umpiring didn't make a difference. If they went to the 9th up 4-1, Nathan would have served up a 3 run homer....5-1, it would have been a grand slam.

The Twins are so scared of the big bad Yankees it's pathetic. They should be banned from the playoffs if they aren't even going to try and win games.

Pff....who cares about either of those games. Did you watch ANY Twins/Yankees games since the mid-1990s?

Unless the Twins magically grow a pair of balls, they will continue to let the Yankees embarrass them at will.

Yeah. The Sox are definitely done.

I mean, coming back from a 2-0 deficit? Nothing like that has EVER happened to ANY team in the history of major league baseball.

Right Yankee fans?

(Seriously, I doubt the Sox will pull it off.....but they always seems to have their backs against the wall in the playoffs, and rally to at least force a tie-breaking game)

There wasn't a push in the back! He got his hand free, took 4 steps and then dove. Give me a break.

He hadn't thrown the flag when Tom turned, however he pointed at Suggs almost immediately and was reaching for his flag as Tom turned around. Tom then pumped his fist because of the call.

He also wasn't "trying to avoid hitting Brady" as some have ludicrously suggested.

It was intentional and dirty.

Watch the second angle. He wasn't "falling", he had his balance, MAYBE tripped on his own, but was intentionally going low. The only reason Brady wasn't hurt is because he was aware of him coming at him low and was able to move. If he had his foot planted, it would have been BAD.
Posted Tuesday October 06, 2009, About: Ravens: Brady got preferential treatment
Watch the video. He didn't "fall and graze" him. He took 4 or 5 steps, then lunged at Brady's legs.

The ref was pointing at Suggs and reaching for his flag as Brady turned toward him.

No one bitching about it has even WATCHED THE VIDEO.

"Stop Whinning about calls that don't go your way...If the Raven reciever catches the ball on 4th and 4, the Ravens probably go on to win 28-27...and any bad calls would be a mute point."

Or if the Pats had converted after already stopping them ONCE on a fourth down play, it also would have been moot.

The defense having to stop two hurry-up drives in 4 minutes can be a bit wearing.
Posted Tuesday October 06, 2009, About: Ravens: Brady got preferential treatment
That's another fallacy. The play would have been a 1st down at the 10 yard line if he even HELD onto the ball (and he was about to be smeared by 2 defensive players so even if he didn't drop it on his own, it wasn't a given that he would have held on). It would have then taken them 4 downs to get a 1st at the 10 yardline. They would have needed to pick up 10 yards in, at best, 3 plays before time expired, with the Pats closing up the middle as the field shortened.

It is far from a given that they would have scored. Of course, they definitely would have scored before halftime too.....you know, if Flacco hadn't been intercepted.

Basically, they didn't stop them on the drive until they stopped them on the drive.

Watch the video. He lunged at Brady, and the ref was pointing at Suggs before Brady even turned toward him.

And again, the ref that flagged it (who was flagging it before Brady looked at him) was standing BEHIND THE PLAY and only gets ONE LOOK at it in REALTIME. Not multiple dissections in slow motion.
Posted Tuesday October 06, 2009, About: Ravens: Brady got preferential treatment
Go watch the replay. He may have "stumbled" but he wasn't going down until he made the decision to lunge at Brady low. It was blatant and dirty. He took 3 or 4 steps after he was disengaged from the lineman, and that's when he "stumbled" and then he dove. The only reason he didn't blow out Brady's knee is because he pulled it back.

You don't have to blow out the QB's knee for it to be a penalty (and a fine).

You should probably watch it again. A) The ref was already throwing the flag B) Suggs lunged at Brady's legs whether he made minor contact or major contact and C) The ref who threw the flag was standing BEHIND the play so even if the guy wasn't intentionally going for Brady's legs, it would have looked that way to the ref WHO ONLY GETS TO SEE THE PLAY ONCE IN REAL TIME.

The problem is, the Ravens defense is getting old and can't keep up anymore, especially with the new tweak to the roughing rule. So what do they do? They play dirtier, and then grouse about rules and manliness and blah blah blah. It's typical of all old people who fear change and long for the good old days. It's kind of sad, and is damaging the legacy of some formerly very good players. If you can't keep up, retire.
Posted Tuesday October 06, 2009, About: Ravens: Brady got preferential treatment
Thats retarded. You are using revisionist history. Brady wasn't a superstar at that point, and the Pats weren't dominant. The rule was enforced to the letter, just as it would have been for Gannon. Give it up already. The league didn't even change the rule after reviewing it.
Posted Tuesday October 06, 2009, About: Ravens: Brady got preferential treatment
He should send the tape.

That will make it easier for the NFL to fine Suggs for diving at the QB's knee.

The funny thing is....Nomar clearly thinks he's still relevant, and anyone will care when his name comes out.

Sometimes, David, it's not about what you want. It's about what millions of other people want. And we want to to rest. For awhile.
