Posted Monday May 20, 2013, About: Nate Robinson unlikely to be a Bull next season
Nate is a scoring point guard and will find a spot somewhere. If he is not hot then he is kind of useless. His historysays he can be a pain in the butt about his role and playing time but as a bench player, he is worth the risk. Miami locked him down and he was unable to create for the others. it is score or nothing.
Posted Monday May 20, 2013, About: Could Cavs trade entire draft for shot at Nerlens Noel?
Noel has no offensive moves. Noel is a few years away from gaining enough weight to be considered thin. The Cavs need to pass on that shot at a quick fix and get one of the wing players to go with that young core.
Posted Monday May 20, 2013, About: Can Paul George stop LeBron James?
No one player will stop James. George locking up with James will hamper his offensive production. They will have to run multiple guys at him with the universal idea of just stay in front and if you are going to foul, do so with some force. James is not a great free throw shooter, put him on the line but they can not afford for either starting big man to get into early foul trouble.
smith lost a lot of money during the playoffs. He had seemingly gotten past his days of constant bad decision making. Obviously it was just hiding out for the worst moment to come out. Between the blatant elbow and the night out with Rhi he fell apart. His scoring died after the club run and of course his defense did too. Teams with realistic title dreams will not want the distraction.
Posted Monday May 20, 2013, About: Dwight Howard intrigued by Rockets, Mavericks
The Laker's are a mess. Kobe is hurt, the front office is in disarray, the coach is iffy at best and the team is old. Dallas is rebuilding but Dirk's game fits Howard's, the owner will spend money and shooters will come because Howard in the post gives them space to shoot. Houston is a good fit too. The Rocket's are young and they play hard. there is an unassuming star on the horizon in Harden as well as a lot of shooters. Houston's roster right now is full of the kind of talent Orlando tried to put around him. Similar system, just more talented players. Parsons is not to be ignored either. Money matters but Dwight is sensitive. Probably too sensitive for the pressure cooker in LA.
Posted Monday May 20, 2013, About: Cavaliers still considering Greg Oden
Veteran minimum only and do not expect to play him a lot until March or April. He should be a luxury item only for any team.
He may not be the most important but he is number two. Bosh gives them length. Bosh coming back from injury last year was almost as important as James finally seeing the light. Bosh will take one of the Pacer's big men to the perimeter and drive him to the basket or pop that jumper in his face. More than Wade's health, Bosh playing well is the second biggest factor in the Heat winning another title.
Over blown faction. James' kryptonite is that he reacts to very perceived slight. All he had to do was post it and take it out on them on the court. I heard the comment in its entirety and there is nothing to it. James is the best ball player in the world right now but he over reacts to stuff. This is why the physical play of Boston, Indiana and Chicago do not sit well with him. His response is to whine and not to make them suffer which he can do whenever he wants to.
Posted Monday May 20, 2013, About: OKC amnestying ... no one?
Perkins is not going to be anything more than what he is now. He is a physical force in the paint that does little scoring and does not move well. They knew this going in. Get rid of him and they will regret it. Ibaka is the let down. He has no post moves and gets emotionally unwound too easily. He needs to stay stateside and go to every big man camp available. Skiles needs to adjust the offense to ease up on the jump shots but he can't if Ibaka can not carry that load. Inside scoring, and a wing off the bench.
Posted Thursday May 16, 2013, About: Pistons, Nets after Shaw
Neither of those jobs is good. The Nets are capped out and have huge holes to fill. They liken themselves a contender but they have to do some wheeling and dealing to get to that point. The Nets players seem to need a reality check. The pistons have some young talent but Dumars seems to be spinning his wheels. See how the chips fall in LA. If he has to take one of those jobs he should go to Detroit. they have less talent but they have a lot of young guys including 2 young big men.
Posted Thursday May 16, 2013, About: Kelvin Sampson interviews for Bobcats' coaching vacancy
Firing coaches every year shows how rudderless the team is. Jordan needs to pick a guy and stick with him for a few years. Without stability they will always be rebuilding.
Posted Thursday May 16, 2013, About: Hawks interview McMillan, Drew waits in limbo
Coaching is not the biggest issue in Atlanta. They have a guy with super-star talent at power forward that wants to be a small forward. Hoford is under-sized but very good in the post and they have a good point guard. It is a rebuilding project especially if Smith leaves
Posted Thursday May 16, 2013, About: No contact between Ainge and Pierce or KG
Pierce is probably gone but despite being grossly over-paid, he may get one more run in Boston. He needs to accept less minutes and coming off the bench. Green is up and down but he always seemed to looking for his spot on the bench. If Rondo,Fab and Sullinger make it back the Celts are back in business. Rondo is a head ache but he is priceless in the playoffs. Fab gives size so KG can get longer resting time and Sull gives them a low post scorer and decent rebounder. Bring the long line of guys like McGrady that will be trying to catch on with a contender.
Posted Wednesday May 15, 2013, About: Smith shoulders all the blame for Knicks' collapse
JR has to make better decisions. It appeared that his craziness had passed but he waited until the playoffs to lose it. The elbow and the partying ruined his groove. Yeah Rhi is fine but he could put that to rest for another month. He shouldn't take all the blame though. Melo and the rest of the team have failed to produce anything lately. Offense gets more highlights but defense is what will carry you throughout the playoffs. This team seems rudderless and that is on the coach and its star. Is J Kidd going to show up for any game? Whats up Felton? Those easy forays to the basket do not exist anymore, playoff basketball tends to be that way.
Posted Monday May 13, 2013, About: Jets job Geno Smith's job to lose?
If they are smart, and I know that is a stretch with the Jets, they will make him the number two guy at best at the start of the season. Make this kid earn every snap at practice and in the the game. If he starts too early, the season will rest on his shoulders and the Jets wouldn't win a lot of games even if Namath was calling the signals. The jets have very little offensive talent and asking Smith to do wonders with that is a bit much. The Jet fans and the NY media will not show patience.
Posted Monday May 13, 2013, About: Serge Ibaka's confidence is shaken
This problem has been brewing for a while. The Thunder run a two man offense all season. They shoot jump shots all night and ask the big men to set screens, rebound, defend the paint and score occasionally on put backs. Now that Westbrook is out, they want their bigs to be ready to help carry the load offensively. These are the things great teams get polished during the season.
Posted Monday May 13, 2013, About: Maloofs intent on Seattle
The Maloofs have become terrible owners. According to my family there, the city and team had a handshake deal on an arena but the brothers back off and asked for more from the people. Besides, the Kings were a better draw than the Sonics. Even when the Kings were bad and the Sonics were good, the folks in Sacramento came out more than those in Seattle. Doesn't matter to me where the team ends up but if I were Stern I would want the city that shows up for the games.
Posted Thursday May 09, 2013, About: Rubio family not happy about firing of David Kahn
Rubio and his family have no perch to cry from. Rubio is fun to watch but he has not become a star and really rarely looks like he will ever get to be one. He can not shoot and he is an even worse defender. No team is clamoring for him as the answer to their point guard void. The biggest problem he has is that his path to greatness is full of other young point guards that are miles ahead of him.
Posted Monday May 06, 2013, About: James Harden to recruit free agents to Houston
Howard would fit in Houston. McHale will teach him some of the things he has yet to learn about the game. Howard seems to want to be the man and have everything tapered to fit him but he is not the post offensive player he has to be in order to handle that. The fan base isn't as harsh or demanding as the Laker's so expectations that go unmet will not seem like the end of the world. Houston shoots a lot of 3's and that bodes well for any low post guy. He had that in Orlando but Houston is more consistent and younger than Orlando and Harden is a rising star.
Posted Friday May 03, 2013, About: Young no longer a target for Raiders
Young is a head case. He won some games but his whining is never going to fade from memory. He never seemed to read defenses and missed a lot of open receivers. He is still as good an option as the Bills, Vikings, Brownsand Jets have on their rosters.
Smith is lucky.to.have been selected in 2nd round. His stats are infltrd and compiled against a lot teams with little or no defense. He nosed dived as soon as he became thennational rage. He may fit into the west coast offense but he doesn't seem to handle pressure well.
