Posted Tuesday April 15, 2014, About: Can the Lakers woo Ollie out of UConn?
I don't think the $$ would even be enough - unless it's some ridiculous number like $10-$15 mil a year.

I can't see him leaving UConn right now. He is about to re-up on a new deal/extension, he is coming off a title so he will get a boost in recruiting, plus he'll have at least a 5-year grace period before anyone questions anything he does because he just won the national title. Why would he go to LA where there will be constant pressure on him and where they might not be very good for awhile, when he can coach some of the best players in the country and be really good perennially for the next 5 years?

AI has always been a scoring guard. He was that at Georgetown. When he came in the league in '96, Philly tried to make him into a PG, but that plan was scrapped by his 3rd/4th year (not at the end of his 76ers career as he left there during the '06-'07 season but was starting alongside Eric Snow beginning in the '98-'99 season). He also averaged 7 apg during his tenure in Denver and Melo averaged like 25+ ppg alongside AI during that time.

Posted Monday April 14, 2014, About: D'Antoni out, Gasol in?
That's crazy talk. Pau is still one of the most skilled big men in the league and he has still been a double double every night this year despite D'Antoni's misuse of him. If used properly, he can be extremely effective for the next 2-3 years. On a contending team, he could push them over the edge.

The problem is Brooklyn plays a small lineup with Pierce playing the stretch 4 most of the time. So the success they have been experiencing usually comes with only one of these guys on the floor at a time.

With that said, it shouldn't be too hard of a problem to solve. It's the playoffs. Go with the hot hand/best matchup based on the series. J Kidd should be able to handle that. He's done a tremendous job with this team already this year.

These rumblings aren't good for a Portland team that is inexperienced going into what will shape up to be an incredibly tough Western Conference playoffs. This makes me believe even more that they are heading to a first round exit.
Posted Monday April 14, 2014, About: 'Melo gushes over Chicago's Thibs
IF Rose is healthy, and with the way things have been the last couple years that's a big "if", and Melo comes to Chicago, that Bulls' team would jump straight into the conversation as the best team in the league.
Posted Monday April 14, 2014, About: 'Melo gushes over Chicago's Thibs
AI wasn't a ballhog. He was a scorer. He averaged 6 assists a game for his career and shot nomore than anyone else who was the #1 scoring option for his time like Kobe, T Mac, KG, Dirk, Pierce, etc. Same thing goes for Melo except he is a number one scoring option as SF/PF.

This potential move by Silver seems a bit counterintuitive to me. If you are worried about kids not being able to make money to support themselves once they graduate from high school, the rule should be that they can go straight from high school to the pros.
Posted Thursday April 10, 2014, About: Duke star Parker arranging sophomore housing
Exactly. None of them are ready for that. Most of them have self-serving people (former coaches, agents, (sometimes) parents) who are pushing them into the money and responsibility that comes along with being a professional athlete. Fortunately for Parker, he has a really good family foundation and they are set financially so he can put that off and enjoy being a kid a little longer.

Bingo!
Posted Thursday April 10, 2014, About: Duke star Parker arranging sophomore housing
^^^ This is the key.

Parker isn't from a rough upbringing and his family isn't pressed for a pay day. His dad is a former NBA player and is one of the biggest figures in high school basketball/the AAU scene. Money is not something he has to worry about.

Parker won 4 championships in high school. Him staying at Duke would be about him wanting to win a championship for the school and to go down as being great with the other champions in Duke's illustrious history. There are still areas of his game that he can improve. Just because he CAN go in the top three of this year's draft doesn't mean he is ready to or SHOULD go.

Gotta have HBK in the top 5.

I think the Bulls will snatch that #3 seed, beat the Wiz and beat the Pacers in the second round.

He shot 5 of 10 from three in the 4th. That is 50%. He shot 10 of 22 from three for the game. That is 45%. Those stats are pretty good.
Posted Monday April 07, 2014, About: Bird coming down to coach?
There is not one single person in the Pacers starting five that isn't overrated. They won't just be fine all of a sudden when the playoffs start. They matchup well with the Heat. They do not match up well with other teams that have an inside presence that can render West and Hibbert ineffective. PG is a really, really good player...but at this point, he isn't a "carry me to the promised land" superstar. They lack shooting as a team. They don't have the ingredients to be true championship contenders. Everyone is/was just so ready for the Heat's reign to be over (which it isn't) that they overrated the Pacers too much.
Posted Thursday April 03, 2014, About: Cousins could turn his image around (but won't)
He will miss out on endorsement money. That is true. Maybe he doesn't care about that seeing as how he probably has more money already than he ever dreamed of and knows what to do with.

Contract money....he won't miss out on any of that. He will get a max contract as long as he continues to put up 23ppg, 12rpg, 3apg, 1.5bpg, a top 10 PER and shoot over 50% from the field. He can get 20 techs a year with those numbers and teams will max him out.
Posted Thursday April 03, 2014, About: Vogel's message to his Pacers: Shut up
My point is, bad teams make the playoffs in all sports sometimes. It happens. There have been times in NBA history where teams in the Eastern Conference have missed out on the playoffs when they have had better records than the lower seeded playoff teams in the Western Conference. Sports leagues are broken down into conferences for good reasons. Everyone is aware of the rules.

Yes, whoever doesn't make the playoffs in the West - Memphis/Dallas/PHX - will have had a great season and it will suck that they aren't in. But next time, win more games. It's that simple.
Posted Thursday April 03, 2014, About: MWP blames Kidd for Knicks bad start
Based off the second half of the year, Kidd deserves COY recognition. He won't win the award (and shouldn't IMO) because of the high expectations the team had coming into the season, but the on-the-fly adjustments he made with the team and with them losing Brook Lopez, he's done a great job.

All those J Kidd coaching jokes that were around at the beginning of the season have certainly been quieted.
Posted Thursday April 03, 2014, About: Cousins could turn his image around (but won't)
Exactly. And he should continue doing what he is doing off the court. I think it's great that he doesn't feel the need to want to publicize all the great things he does and doesn't depend on a PR firm for his every move.

With that said, he does need to clean his act up some on the court because all the technical fouls negatively affect his team. Besides that, dude is a baller and will be the best center in the league soon, if he isn't already.
