I too, thought this was the ideal landing place for 18. Not only because of his ties to the state, but he gets to stick it to the Colts twice a year. Kenny Britt should put up huge numbers if this all goes down, and maybe CJ2YPC finds his CJ2K form?
Posted Thursday March 15, 2012, About: Chipper has some harsh words for Harper
Seems to be everyone's sentiment at this point. The kid has been told he's the greatest thing since sliced bread since he was able to hold a bat and he probably thinks he has it all figured out. He would def be wise to reach out to some guys like Chipper, Jeter, etc. to gain some insight as to what he's about to be going through and how to handle things, but that prob wont happen. I wish the kid success, but he's prob gonna wish he wasn't such a knucklehead when he looks back and its all said and done.

He would have got more money if he stayed in CLE. People aren't mad at LeBron because he went for more money; they're mad because he tore the hearts out of an entire city on national television.

What happened between him, his wife, the Hooters waitress, her mom, sister, roommate and whoever else isn't any of your business. If you were a high profile athlete, you could look forward to all of the less than desirable events that took place in your life being aired out for everyone to see through the media. That probably wouldn't happen though, since you are perfect...please forgive me.

As for LeBron, people aren't so mad for him "changing teams" as they are with how he went about it.

Right...and you were the one who never made any mistakes when you were young, had tons of money, and girls throwing themselves at you. Wait...that never happened.

You don't sound like a Braves fan at all. Chipper Jones is an Atlanta icon and a Braves legend who's leadership and contributions will be sorely missed. Get over yourself.

Solid plan; I'm not thrilled with Elam, but you're exactly right about the available S's out there.

A lot of guys bodies break down at this age; nothing to do with his hobbies. Maybe you should try sounding more intelligent when you write things.

You're a moron.
Posted Tuesday March 13, 2012, About: 'Melo and Mike honeymoon is over
Yes they put together a decent little winning streak against a pretty weak schedule (Lakers and Mavs excluded), and they were def hot at the time. I agree 100% with you that Melo's return had something to do with them coming back to earth, but even when he's been playing well, they are still losing. The formula is bad.

All I'm saying is that Melo could go to a team where he is the guy, with an Iso system in place and be back to putting up numbers that we've been seeing from him throughout his career. Again, you don't have to like him, and I'm not saying that he's MJ...but I think that there are plenty of teams that could use him.
Posted Tuesday March 13, 2012, About: 'Melo and Mike honeymoon is over
Why would a player EVER want this type of power? This shouldn't be allowed to happen, and frankly shouldn't even be considered. If this guy thinks that he should be more involved than anything other than getting better and his work on the court, I would trade him now and say good riddance.
Posted Tuesday March 13, 2012, About: 'Melo and Mike honeymoon is over
I'm just saying that he doens't fit with this team/style of play very well (obviously). The Knicks failures run a lot deeper than Melo's play however...someone else already pointed out that Melo/Stat took a combined 3 shots in crunch time last night, while Lin took 5? I'm just saying that Amare and Melo aren't really being used to their full effectiveness, and I'm sure a lot of that has to do with them being on the same team. Melo is at his best when he is the clear-cut, number 1 option on a team, where he gets the lion's share of the scoring touches. You don't have to like him or his style of play, but he is what he is. He could help a lot of teams as the number one option, where he gets to be the "man". I know he doesn't have a lot of playoff success, but this was the recipe in DEN and he put up great numbers.

"Unit 91...come in Unit 91"

No kidding...this will go on until one of them is gone, no doubt.

Couldn't agree more.

I have to agree that the coach/system seems to be the problem here. Melo can be great player, but he has taken a severe drop off since he came to NY. I'm not ready to say that Melo can't be a team player yet, I just think that he has to be in a system where HE is the guy, and the rest of the supporting cast has to do the other things he wont. He did well in DEN because it was really nothing but role players around him the entire time, and Karl had them playing good team basketball (Melo included). I think he thought he could come right in and mesh with another proven guy in Stat, which has been a horrible, failed experiment at best. His confidence is gone.

I am a big Carmelo fan, always have been. Maybe a change of scenery would do him some good...maybe. But I really hope that people think that losing Melo would solve the Knicks problems; not in the least. This a poorly coached team that needs somebody at the helm who at least seems to care and actually wants to win.

Watching this team play basketball is painful, and you have to wonder if Mike is simply trying to get fired at this point.

Yet I see that you are on here all day long reading them. Pretty easy to hide behind your stupid ass hillbilly picture and slam a guy that actually has a job in an industry you clearly wish you had a better understanding of. Maybe you should put your work out for everyone to critique so people can decide if it's "amazing" that you have a job.

I'm not sure that Melo would ever be fine with being the 2nd option, you know? I do think that if anybody could get him to be one however, it would be Kobe. They have a pretty close friendship and I think that he'd defer to him.
Posted Wednesday March 07, 2012, About: Anthony admits he's lost in new offense
100% agree; I'm glad you brought that up. It's like he's forgotten how to put it on the floor and get to the rack. In that sense, he has regressed...big time.
Posted Wednesday March 07, 2012, About: Anthony admits he's lost in new offense
I hear ya man. I'm really one of his biggest supporters, there is no doubt; I just don't think that he is going to ever be the type of guy that fits with a team like this. He's not a productive player without the ball in his hands, and with as much talent as he has, that's a shame. I think that Melo/Lin could be very productive, but it would still require Melo taking a lot of shots, especially on a night like last night...he needs more than 12 shots to be effective. He's most effective when he's scoring (one of the best pure scorers in the league), but is not an overly efficient scorer. They need to find a balance where he still gets his shots and can fight through a poor shooting game, because 6 points on 12 shots isn't gonna cut it. I just don't think this offense is a good fit for Melo...
Posted Wednesday March 07, 2012, About: Anthony admits he's lost in new offense
Man, I hope so. For a guy who has always had to be the "man" on his team, he has to be devastated right now...his confidence is shot. I'm opposed to the whole "dreamteam" idea, so I had a feeling that this Melo/Stat thing wouldn't work. Stat is more of a supporting cast type of guy though, Melo is more leading man material...he NEEDS to be the guy. He has to be involved in the offense on every possesion or he checks out man. He's a rythym guy who needs more than 12 shots to get going probably (last night 2-12). He had plenty of those nights in Denver, but in the first half. In the second half he might have caught fire and finished 12-30. Less shot attempts = less chance he has to get hot and go off, and his confidence is fading...fast.

As much as I really can't see how you justify the "one of the best teams assembled in basketball history" statement, I have to agree with you here. I really like Melo and think he's a talented due, but he's clearly a guy that has to be in the right system. I think for the sake of the Knicks (and for Melo's confidence/sanity), they should be looking for trade partners. They can get more pieces that would utilize the strengths of their new team. I love Melo, but he's looking more and more like Glen Robinson every day.
