Crooked Stiches's Comments

Too many people expect something from uneducated (mostly) athletes that could care less about being a role model.
At the end of the day, you pay your ticket, and get amused for a while.
The rest is just marketing b.s.
Tres Drole
fixed!
Canadian logic being questioned by YOU...lol.
Tr??s dr??le.
Merci.
...says the pot to the kettle.
"...we become sports fans because...enthralled that these young men and women are capable, with their bodies, of what we could never manage with ours. When athletes take performance-enhancing drugs they destroy that basic truth"

NO.
This implies that you (possibly) and whomever else thinks this way, are enamored with and live vicariously through these athletes.

The "purpose" of sports (if there really is one) is for entertainment.
To (in essence) pay people to do things on a field or court or rink to entertain us.
NOT be role models to children/adults.
NOT be individuals to look up to and admire.
and NOT expect them to perform goodwill through public outreach.

They are forms of entertainment, plain and simple.

"In 1962, the NBA was still rampant with racism. In the introduction of Wilt and Baylor in the NBA was an extraordinary event. Meaning, Wilt was pretty much playing against an inferior opponents and just the mere fact that he was 7 feet tall was unfair. "

Hate to say it, but you are kind of implying that Wilt played against an inferior race of players.

"In 1962, the NBA was still rampant with racism..."
Looks like it may still exist.

"the truth is, in 1962 the league was watered down due to racism"

That is great...never heard this excuse before.

"-Wilt played against the Knick's BACK UP center. The starter was injured"

Yup, and Kobe played against the defensive juggernaut that is the Raptors.
