Who was over projected? Len? McGee, Leonard? I would say don't confuse two top ten players with a top team. You have to remember with Leonard, Len McGee we are talking long term projections. Leonard came out as a sophmore Kentucky only has one top ten player worthy of being drafted that early and they made the title game. The two are not necessarily related. I think Embiid is a double double guy if he gets the minutes.

The center position is the position of most need in the whole NBA. It hasn't been working out but don't mean you stop drafting top ones. Injuries will happen but if there is nothing chronic or troubling then I see no problem drafting one. Embiid I can almost guarantee a double double if he is not hurt.

The mid to late first round is the place to be. I think that is where the true gems will be found and a couple second rounders will make it.

I would not compare last year's draft to anything this year or past good drafts. There was a clear lack of a consensus number one pick last year. Anyone saying different is lying. If Embiid is healthy then he is better potentially than any player in last years draft. A center can be dominant without having a dominant offense game as long as you can rebound protect the rim. Embiid fits that already but he is still in need of improvement. He is very mobile/agile again very good from a defensive standpoint.

Cav's are either doing something like thinking of trading a player and a future first to move up. The Magic have two first round picks like the Sixers both most likely two in the top 12. If his medical comes back ok then the risk might be worth it. I see no way they get Wiggins or Parker unless they are parting with Kyrie. The Magic might be interested but not the Sixers.

I think the Cav's want Embiid or they think they have a shot at getting him by moving up a few slots. If the Magic get 3rd or say 4th they wouldn't draft Embiid with Vuceivic doing so good. In order to get Parker or Wiggins you have to be in the top two. Hood can fall to them without moving up.

The more I watch college the more I see that the college rules limit individual dominance. It definitely is team first but in the NBA you need some individual talented players to create mis matches and open shots. I will say this Randle was being double teamed a lot in the championship and the final 4. His footwork/post moves are better than or equivalent to most in the NBA. He needs to learn to be a better passer out of double teams and don't force too much.

Haha I don't think he will manhandle the pros but he will get to the foul line a lot. There are few guys that go into lane looking to draw contact and he is one of them at a freshman. He will have a Z-Bo type effect but will be slightly faster.

I think so too I was pumping him up early in the year Mecca wasn't too high on him. I see a 15-17 pts 10reb guy that will get people in foul trouble.

1. Wiggins
2. Parker
3. Embiid
4. Randle
5. Exum
6. Smart
7. Vonleh
8. Gordon
9. Gary Harris
10. Tyler Ennis

Vonleh appears basic but in a good way. He is younger again than most of the freshman and he turns 19 in what August. He has prototypical 4 size already and looks the type of guy that can have a 10 year career at PF contributing like 12-15 pts 10reb. He actually rebounds really good not super athletic but not slow either. I actually like him though.

I think if Lakers get 6th they are selecting Smart. I don't think Gordon has declared yet but he should think about coming back and working on his shot exclusively. He is about a year younger than all the freshman. PG is the easiest position to fill but I don't know if Smart will get pass them. Gordon is a really great athletic guy that will have a hard time getting on the court.

Sorry DWill the Nets are still second class until they win something
Posted Wednesday April 16, 2014, About: The best of Rondo (coming in 2014-15)
Rondo can't carry an offense but he can run well and be a key piece to one. If Celtics do good in the draft he might stay but I see him traded and eventually on a team with Love. Knicks and Lakers probably have the best shot

JGB,

Melo is the leader of the team. Even if he is there you guys are getting veteran cheap labor or guys off the street possibly un-drafted rookies to fill out the roster. You might be able to trade Chandler to a desperate team that wants to make the playoffs someone like NO. Odom is just cheap player to be in the rotation of possibly a triangle type offense.

Ok we on the same page then. Mitch should be trying to get a coach to teach the current draft pick.
Posted Tuesday April 15, 2014, About: Can the Lakers woo Ollie out of UConn?
Kobe is the face of the franchise but he should not be a factor in determining who the team decides to let coach the team. You should not be making coaching decisions based off a guy on his last legs when you are not even a contender. What other moves they need to run through Kobe? If a sticking point of who you select to coach comes down to whether he appeases Kobe at this point then Lakers management is worse than I expected. Might as well leave D'Antoni there if that is the case then hire a coach when Kobe contract expires. sounds silly at this point.

I would add no coach is righting the Lakers ship with the players they have. This is a rebuilding effort going on.

I can't even hate on this type of move. The Knicks have no draft picks and can't make many moves. They are literally scraping the bottom of the barrel. 2 years away from anything no matter what they do.
Posted Tuesday April 15, 2014, About: Can the Lakers woo Ollie out of UConn?
There is no guarantee Kobe can make it through those seasons is what I mean. He is on the downside of his career with knee and achilles issues. The Lakers should not be making coaching decisions based off what Kobe thinks at this point in time or who Kobe would listen to. The team is not a contender. There is a chance they will be getting a young "star" in two years
Posted Tuesday April 15, 2014, About: Can the Lakers woo Ollie out of UConn?
The Lakers would be lucky to get someone like Ollie. He is a good motivator by all accounts of his current players and former teammates. I don't think it would be a bad fit for him. There is no guarantee that Kobe is even there past next year. So they need to be thinking long term, just like the Celtics did. The Lakers will be getting young draft picks that need to be developed.

So they are better without Westbrook wow? Someone on that Thunder team has to step up. Jackson and Ibaka most likely so that Westbrook doesn't have to well jack too many shots. I just cant trust the Pacers
