This is the final year of his contract. He's a UFA after this season. He has no guaranteed money left in the deal. So he's kinda calling their bluff. Either pay him $14.28M this year or cut him and let me make his own deal elsewhere. He's in a pretty good position at this point, as long as there's a real market for him out there.
He is a lot more honest about his situation than many others. He's a very smart player, and still willing to go head to head, but has lost a lot of speed. He's been paid a lot of money and I hope he doesn't beat himself up to where he's unable to walk in 15 years.
Favre has always stated that he loves the Packers. He has stated this over and over again. I find it humorous when people write that maybe he is ready to re-embrace the franchise again. He does have a bone to pick with Ted Thompson, but not with the Packers. Even when he was traded to the Jets, he stated in numerous press conferences that he loved being a Packer.
I feel bad for the guy. He's a great rags to riches story, which seems to be heading back to rags. He's a good guy and does give everything he has. I'd like to see him turn it around. There's no way I'd be booing him. Perhaps he needs a new pitching coach.
I hope he stays in college for 2 more seasons. Because he isn't going to see the field in the NFL. Well, I guess he'll see it, from the bench or the seats.
I can't imagine having a serious thought about starting McElroy or Simms. Garrard last started a game in 2010 and is 35. Certainly no future there, although he could be the best of the bunch here in 2013. I would be shocked if Smith is ready to play in 2013, although I think he may become a decent QB. Sanchez is a total waste. If you go with him as your 2013 starter, you are throwing away your season. Even though they have 5 QBs, they could really use a veteran QB who could come in and play for a couple of seasons while Smith gets ready. I am not sold on Garrard being that guy and I wouldn't even think of using Sanchez.
Trickett's father played at WVU in the 70s and coached there for several years in the 2000s. Clint lived in Morgantown for 6 or 7 years.
So given all of that, plus the vacancy at QB with Geno Smith's departure, and given Holgorsen's success with QBs wherever he has been, it's a no brainer for Trickett to transfer there.
Smith is saying that he fired the agent for his actions at the end of the day and the next day. That the guy wasn't helpful in handling the situation when Smith went undrafted the first day and then took off and left Smith alone there on the 2nd day. It had nothing to do with the agent failing to get Smith drafted in the top 10. Smith didn't trust the guy anymore and didn't want him handling his negotiations.
I agree. Look at those guys! One has to wonder why more aren't caught. I mean I know Lance Armstrong used for 15 years, was tested regularly, and was never caught. But you'd think out of hundreds of football players, more of them would slip up. Are the testing procedures just not that rigorous?
He really has fallen into the pits.
