That just astounds me you don't remember ALL the way back to 2005. UGA wouldve been in the SEC championship in '07 had Tennessee lost to Vandy or Kentucky whom the Vols squeaked past both.

Gray needs to come in more as a change of pace guy on a more regular basis to give him some reps since Cox has done well at times and been loyal to UGA but does not do well enough to stay on 100% of the time.

Damon Evans and Mark Richt are smart enough to handle staff changes in the off-season. Firing Martinez right now would only put the Dawg D at even more of a disadvantage when one of the assistants would have to step up and be thrust into responsibility that was not part of the agreement when the season started. Save any changes in staff for the off-season.

Luckily for him the offensive line at UGA is still pretty young, so he'll have a couple of years to rehab and get back to 100%. No rush.

Most dawg fans blame Martinez. That's a good question whether the position coaches are to blame, especially the secondary coach. Martinez used to be the secondary coach, so that really should be a strength of the defense. The pass coverage has been horrible. It's almost like the players are being coached to allow zones softer than jell-o. I think that's why Martinez is given the most scrutiny.

Exactly, high expectations, if handled properly, usually yeild positive results.

I'll admit that I was one who had too high if expectations (seemingly good talent was coming in like 05), but the season is not done yet and assessments should be made, if needed, at the end of the season.

I think 4-5 years us the least amount of years a new coach should be given (unless the coach inherits USC, Ohio State, or what used to be Miami). After that the coach should be assessed on 3 year increments, approximately. A OC or DC should be give a few years to really teach and implement his scheme (I'm lookin at you Auburn).

That was exactly what I was thinking. Wait until the end of the season.

Martinez definitely needs to get demoted or leave. The total defense as fallen by year since Martinez showed up. For example:

Total Defense by year:
2004 (the year before Martinez was DC)- 8
2005 - 18
2006 - 8
2007 - 14
2008 - 22
2009 (so far) - 74

Plus, Martinez has made almost every opposing QB look even better (except for ASU's QB).
