Don't get me wrong, Al was a pioneer and a visionary in his prime.
He engineered the NFL-AFL merger. First Black head coach First Female executive Fought the league and the city of Oakland to move to L.A.
But in his last few years the game and the personnel got away from him. His coaching choices after 1993, with the exceptions of Gruden and Cable, were complete disasters. His draft picks and trades were not optimal, and he overpaid money and draft picks for mediocre to poor players. He undermined his coaches so much that the players had no discipline or respect fro the coaching staff. Problematic players could not be touched if they were Al's favorites. Al's control over every aspect of the team stifled it in these last 11 years.
Rose is doing the right thing. He hasn't played in a year, this is the intensity of the playoffs and he would be too disruptive and too unpracticed and raw to be effective.

Just like Al Davis.
In fact, he might hold them back.
