I think the Lakers would be just fine without current Kobe and their record would be better than sub .500. Gasol and Bynum plus whoever they bring in with the money spent on Kobe would be at the very least their 3rd best player.
As for who would go to the games, I 'd hope that Laker fans would go as long as the team is winning and not to just see a star player.
That's what they're supposed to do. they know if they pick at him enough he'll explode and give them something to write about. Kurt needs to keep his cool and just say "Next question."
If this is the end (unlikely) then he's had a pretty good prime years. He's pitched a lot, and that throwing motion puts quite a bit of stress on his arm.
Except other countries will still send their very best players, some who play in the NBA or play professionally elsewhere. By the time the USA team has developed chemistry they'll be too old to play.
The Suns just need to go best player available for a few drafts to stock their team up with young guys who will be cheap for a few years, hope Nash resigns, and stop signing below average players to such long term deals.
