By definition a sellout is when you sell all of your seats. Whether the people come or not isn't a consideration of a sellout. If you want to go back to a rainy night and find empty seats in the stands you're nit-picking. I live in New Jersey and bring the family every year for a game. This season being the 100th Anniversary of Fenway was by far the most difficult time I've had getting tickets. I was unable to get tickets through the box office for August games back in April. I had to resort to Stub Hub for the first time ever to get tickets, to the lowly Twins at that. The park was jammed full that game and every other game I've seen on TV. The Sox are not selling unused seats late in the game to re-sellers, they've been sold out since the beginning of the season.

Bobby V established the precedent of not speaking to the players before spouting off to the media about them. I'm sorry, but I wouldn't speak to him for fear anything I say would go straight to ESPN.

Wage has nothing to do with it. They have a skill set that is highly sought after and they are appropriately compensated. In a supply/demand market where owners maximize they prices on ticket sales and tv revenue, I have no qualms with players getting their fair cut of the profits. When an owner says "Oh no, I know I could sell the ticket for $300 but I don't think it's fair for fans to spend over $30 to watch a game." is when I'll care about player salaries.

So you've gotten the job done, which judging from scoring the second most runs in the league the Boston offense is also doing. The Boston bullpen has also been pretty solid this year. It is the starting pitching that has let them down, but I don't see any of those guys sniping in the media. So when you've worked for someone you don't respect, you've never looked for another job? How do you think that happens when you're locked into a guaranteed contract? It's both beneficial to the player and to the team to be able to lock up an agreed upon number of years.

You've never had a boss you didn't respect? It's almost impossible to work for someone who you don't respect. You can not like someone, yet respect them. But that doesn't seem to be the case for BobbyV.

I'm making my annual trip to Fenway this weekend and this is year I'm hardly looking forward to it. Yes the end to last year was deeply disappointing. But what was worse was the terrible smear campaign orchestrated by upper managment against Terry Francona. No one needed to know about his pain medication usage or family issues. But someone (Lucchino? Epstein on his way out?) leaked it and it didn't sit well with the team. Then they bring in a blowhard like BobbyV and expect the team to fall into lock-step? I know I would have a hard time with that.

These guys have been standing up for eachother, against BobbyV. This manager has brought it upon himself. He didn't gain the respect of the team nor establish control of the locker room. He started the trend of going to the press with the Youk situation and Pedroia took it upon himself to defend Youk to the media. Now BobbyV is complaining when the same tactic is used against him? Pot and Kettle Bobby!!!!

Two things need to happen immediately and if they don't Cherington should be fired. BobbyV has to be let go before he does any more damage to the core of the team (Ellsbury, Pedroia, Papi). And Papi should get the long term contract that he's looking for right now. Up to 4 years is fine, they have to pay a premium now that they've lost his trust with 2 1 year contracts in a row.

Fulham could use him after they sell Dempsey to Liverpool. I think that would be a nice fit. Make that 9 people Creepy :)

A plus comment. If you aren't doing anything illegal during the fight then you should get to fight any style you like. To force the action for entertainment purposes sullies the results and pushes UFC closer to the side-show that once was rather than the sport that it wants to become.

Jeremy Lin? The same guy that Stephen A is killing for being a below average guard? That is Grunwald's claim to fame? Add that to bringing in a 40 year old Jason Kidd who can't defend, Raymond Felton who similar to Lin has a 1/2 year of quality productivity to his resumee, and Marcus Camby and Kurt Thomas to give Jason Kidd someone he can relate to and talk about those good ol' Hannah Barberra cartoons. I'm pretty sure the talent that Walsh put together that made both playoffs for Denver after the 'Melo trade would look alot prettier spacing the floor for Dwight Howard rather than 'Melo (who Dolan forced and caused Walsh to effectively quit).

What is the draw to NYC again? To play for a perennial loser with bad management? I don't see it. James Dolan's handling of Donnie Walsh, the only quality assessor of talent for that franchise in the past 20 years, should be evidence enough that the man and team don't deserve quality free agents nor your hard earned money in ticket sales and merchandise. Root for a team that's able to learn from mistakes rather than repeat them over and over and over again.
