Let's face it, most of these foundations are more glitz/glamour than substance because more often than not the foundations have to pay appearance fees for celebrity guests, hotel, airfare, transporation, gifts, etc ... typically these events take in 100's of thousands or even a cool million ... than after expenses, staff, temporary labor, auctioneer fees, etc ... the recipient get's as much as 1/3 and as little (legal minimum for a 501 (c)) 1/5 of the take.

Sad, not only is he accepting the fact sports stars live by another set of rules - he's relishing that fact and taking full advantage of it. Another reason all sports stars and franchises should have salary / income caps - smaller signing bonuses, but longer contracts with legitimate incentive benchmarks. Likewise, the franchise owners should only be allowed to profit by "X" amount with additional monies being paid back to the community in the host city / state.

Just one sports fan who's getting tired of reading article after article about these smug, 'above the law' stars.

He'd be better off starting a new co-ed league with players like Duval and Wie - big enough names to garner some media attention, with the personal issues to make for great TV coverage. Maybe do a quick format like a 1,2,3 round where the first round determines the cut-line, the 2nd line drops you into the money (top 8 or 12), then a final round. I can't see John mustering through any organized league anywhere.

Interesting, there's around 150 to 180 seats on a typical commercial plane. Multiply that by $500 round trip and you get around $190,000 ... but I'm sure THE ohio state university can figure out math on it's own.

I for one am absolutely shocked that Stern found no faults with himself. Amazing. I know I completely trust him when he says there's no further evidence of foul play and that nobody from the league ever put pressure on Refs to manuever key games. Yes indeed, there's no ulterior motive whatsoever for this ex Lawyer to have redesignated the league as 'sports entertainment' a la WWE.

Kiffin was a horrible selection as head coach and more than lived up to my expectations of becoming an utter failure as team leader. In my opinion he should repay the money he's already pocketed and give it back to Davis. Then gool ol' Al should write a personalized letter of apology to everyone of us in Raidernation and divide the money equally as loyalty appreciation. Ugh ... these have been tough times indeed for the Silver & Black :(

He's a good coach stuck with bad players from the previous administration and a few untimely injuries / academic issues that prevent him from taking the next step up. Unfortunately, this opening schedule was always going to be an 0-3 start - given the perennial powers they faced. I'm hoping they pull out a much needed victory on Saturday and a few more along the way to give him another solid year of coaching and some time for the freshmen / sophomores to mature around his QB and play some quality ball next year ... except against the Bruins of course.

Phil has a great deal of natural talent but lacks the killer instinct to work out, sculpt his body, focus his efforts, train his mind to golf under control and in dominating fashion. I think he's a lot like UCLA athletics, up for the BIG GAMES, then play half *** in everyday matches. For Phil, he'll play lights out when he's in contention but will otherwise settle for a top 25 finish. This past weekend he started off great and then slipped on Sunday morning, rather than fight through it and use his amazing short game to add pressure ... he allowed the match to get away. Oh well - a win is a win is a win.

Sadly the severe offensive woes jeopardize the defense by forcing them to play more minutes with their backs against the goal line. I'm hopefully they string together enough wins this year to keep Walker content. He should have been given a chance to coach full time.

These kids need smarter advisors. I remember one player had a very sub par year but held a player's option to renew - his agent forget to fax in the letter of intent to resign with the team costing this kid around 4 or 5 million. He sued ... he won ... but agent had no money. The only winner, the team that saved the money.

Ellis better stick to his contract terms or he'll find himself riding a scooter to and from McDs.

So help me understand, I'm supposed to be impressed if she makes the cut at a PGA event in which literally the top 50 players are not participating? Sorry, that's like me (average joe) glorifying myself because I held my own at a local pro-am event against a bunch of better than average golfers. Sorry, she needs to impress us by winning against the top women and men, not the 'alternates.'
