Texas and N.O. ? Great place(s) for a recovering alcoholic to play at. Why not just hook him up to an alcohol IV drip while your at it. I guess 2 rehab stints and a team required drug/alcohol program failed to correct the problem.
DEVO (SPECTRE) | 09/07/08, 10:00 AM

Alcohol IVs are a VERY bad idea...as in death is very likely because you're putting alcohol directly into your bloodstream.

Hmmmmm.....Cut John Jansen, or wait until he gets injured by week 2?? Decisions, decisions
Mental Ray | 08/30/08, 11:13 AM

I say KEEP Jon Jansen. He's a great right tackle and if he doesn't start can provide MUCH needed depth.
Posted Sunday August 31, 2008, About: Redskins vet may lose job
It's only pre-season but the 'Skins have looked just awful.
sacked92 | 08/30/08, 10:11 AM

Actually we looked quite good in the first three preseason games (going 3-0). It's only been the final two preseason games that the "Skins have looked just awful" (as you put it) in which we went 0-2.

Johnson's me-first, non-stop, self-promoting style has gotten old. I say the Bengals should make a statement by assigning him the number "zero."
rdpsports | 08/30/08, 02:56 PM

First: no player can be issued the number 0. Only numbers 1-99 are eligible (depending on what jerseys are retired or held until they absolutely have to be given out).

Second: A receiver can only be issued a number within the ranges of 10-19 and 80-89. So Chad Johnson could not be given the number zero.

Mental Ray, your name is well chosen as you're definitely mental. Hoping for a disaster to strike a city making them homeless is just really wrong.
KingRex | 08/29/08, 11:59 AM

That already happened once in New Orleans.

In your mind it is a good business decision to gamble on Aaron Rodgers (totally unproven), but not on Favre (HOF)? Don't you people think before you post?
river1075 | 07/28/08, 01:15 AM

It's a habit that FAR too many people have.
Posted Sunday July 27, 2008, About: Packers: Rodgers will start in '08
Exactly my point. He hasnt done anything to be named the next QB besides get hyped up and fall all the way to the 20's in the 2005 draft. Plus wasnt that game against the Pats a blow out (Pats 35-Pack 7)by the second half and Rogers was just getting mop up playing time?
remmsterr | 07/27/08, 04:38 PM

Actually Brett had been shaken up and yeah it was a blow out.

bigben68 actually predicts brett can win with the jets?? i guess it really only takes a keyboard to post here as actual football knowledge means nothing.
jackinatlanta | 07/27/08, 06:16 PM

Um, where did I mention ANYTHING about Brett Favre, the New York Jets, or any mix of the two in my previous posting? Hm? No, I didn't.
Posted Sunday July 27, 2008, About: Packers: Rodgers will start in '08
*broke a bone in his FOOT.
Posted Sunday July 27, 2008, About: Packers: Rodgers will start in '08
Aaron Rogers has done NOTHING besides getting hurt in pre-season games and practices..by week 6 Ted and McCarthy will be knocking on Brett's door..that is if hes not winning on the Jets
remmsterr | 07/27/08, 03:59 PM

Actually he broke his feet in, I think, Week 12 of 2006 against the Patriots. He pulled his hamstring the week of practice AFTER the Dallas game of 2007. He did something else too, but I can't remember. He can't stay healthy and he hadn't played well untill that Dallas game.

I saw one time when they called a penalty
for that which to me gives players with long hair an advantage
jgh | 05/19/08, 08:03 AM

That was Larry Johnson pulling Polamalu to the ground and then yanking his hair after taking him to the ground that got the penalty called. Ricky Williams, back in 2003 I think, was tackled by his hair and the NFL rules state that long hair is treated as a part of the uniform.

jj730, we'll have to continue later, it's lunch time.
Posted Tuesday May 13, 2008, About: Is Horn heading to the Cowboys?
It's not about "just letting it go". They won their SB's by an avg of 3 pts. So it's not like they were the most dominating dynasty in history. So it gives reason to believe that something might have happened. I don't like that Goodell said "I talked to them, fined them, and now it's over." It's not that easy.

jj730 | 05/13/08, 11:19 AM

Did anyone have doubts at the time? Why should the past be questioned when something happens in the present? You can't go back and change it....you can't go and replay those games.
Posted Tuesday May 13, 2008, About: Is Horn heading to the Cowboys?
I think the Pats would have still won their SB's whether they taped or not. The problem is Goodell was so quick to push this under the rug it looks suspicious. If he would have done a complete investigation this would have been over with.

jj730 | 05/13/08, 11:14 AM

Eh, let it go. They paid heavy fines for something that had no effect on that game and would have done nothing until a month or two later when they played the Jets again. People, at the time and even awhile after, were suggesting that the Patriots forfeit that game or lose all of their draft picks for the upcoming year or even have Belichick suspended. All of those are far too harsh compared to the crime.
Posted Tuesday May 13, 2008, About: Is Horn heading to the Cowboys?
Who's to say they didn't have the signals as well? Or if a certain player ran in motion that identify the play? And all you need is some loser(Matt Walsh?) to spend all night reviewing the tape and have it ready by 7:00 in the morning. You give the report to the coach, and then the coach tells a MLB or Safety what to look for so they can audible. This isn't rocket science. And you don't need to know every play. Let's see you see a play they keep running over and over in the red zone. You can look out for that. You might guess wrong. But atleast you have a place to start.

jj730 | 05/13/08, 11:10 AM

It's all speculation by us, but I still don't see why people are all in a rage over a walkthrough being taped. Maybe it's just me, but this WHOLE taping 'scandal' should have disappeared after the punishment was given and paid.
Posted Tuesday May 13, 2008, About: Is Horn heading to the Cowboys?
It does deserve the attention it receives, taping is illegal, no matter if it benefits your team or not. They have rules for a reason, right Pacman?

gridiron | 05/13/08, 11:04 AM

None of the attention the taping has received is deserved. It should have ALL been over after the second week of the NFL season.

Every team has a series against another team throughout history...Every team has some kind of record against another...

Big Ben68 | 05/13/08, 11:00 AM

Thanks for the insight but I'm talking about a yearly series.

Phillydave | 05/13/08, 11:04 AM

No problem. Just trying to give a justification for KP's slip up.
Posted Tuesday May 13, 2008, About: Is Horn heading to the Cowboys?
Those are important parts of the game. If they had a tape of that, they could do alot.

jj730 | 05/13/08, 11:01 AM

They could, but it requires more than a few hours of study and it also requires the ability to remember those formations, plays, etc. seen on tape, notice them in game, and apply any kind of audibles, play calls, etc. that had been planned during a short time of studying that tape. You don't have enough time to physical watch a 2+ hour walk through and plan out a definitive and effective plot against it. Plus, all you're seeing is an offense and defense playing in shorts and helmets basically going 25% as they just run through plays.
Posted Tuesday May 13, 2008, About: Is Horn heading to the Cowboys?
Don't you remember... you jumped into a conversation about Eagles/cowboys. I thought you knew a little something. Eagles don't even play the Patriots in a series.

Posted Tuesday May 13, 2008, About: Is Horn heading to the Cowboys?
Taping a walk through, which is held the day before a game, leaves a team with almost no time to study it. Besides a walk through is usually only the first 10,15, maybe 20 plays of a game...it really doesn't have all that great of an advantage that people are thinking it does. Believe me...walk throughs are basically useless for anybody but the team doing them.

Big Ben68 | 05/13/08, 10:56 AM

Not completely true..

jj730 | 05/13/08, 10:57 AM

The majority of walk throughs are just a basic practice method of going over last minute things a day or two before a game. We do them in high school football...but taping a walk through isn't worth all the attention it has received...

This is what we call a "half-truth".

The Cowboys lost in the first round of the playoffs two years ago and then in the second round this past season. They haven't won a playoff game now for 12 years...

Big Ben68

Thank you for reminding me - I had totally forgotten.

CowboyDave | 05/13/08, 10:56 AM

I highly doubt that...
