As intended? What exactly does that mean? In the old school it was acceptable to intentionally try and injured a good QB. Fortunately the game has evolved somewhat from the neanderthal era and intentional injury attempts are no longer allowed. Losing QBs like Manning, Brees, Palmer, Brady, etc only serve to degrade the game and ruin it for the fans. It also doesn't take a mental giant to know that if you lunge at the side of a QB's knee while his leg is planted you will seriously injure him. Why do you think the punter is so protected. Both Palmer and Brady injuries clearly showed the defender lunging at the knee, while trying to make it sound like an accident, or 'I didn't mean it'. How stupid does a player have to be not to know what will happen in that case?

Brady has been effectively taken out of games with a strong rush with no cheap shots, so it can be done. Yes, keep protecting the QBs from goons!

I would like to see Ryan go, but a few things to consider: early on he wanted to do a 3-4 early on but Sapp couldn't handle it so he switched back to 4-3. Now with Sapp gone maybe he can get more creative. Also, "sources" claim the vanilla man D that he runs is really Davis' idea. If this is true then we really do not know how good (or bad) he can be until he is allowed to do what he wants. Personally I do not think he will get any better.
