Being a bust is possible. SI had an article on the guy that was pretty good. Before he became the phenom he is now he was in lousy shape & his trainer had him written off. If he doesn't maintain a workout routine he could revert back to old ways.

I believe my post was in agreement w/you in the fact that I'd rather see the Braves use their resources to develope their younger talent. I agree Jones & Anderson deserve a shot. Developing young talent is what made the Braves successful. The fact remains however, if Braves mgt. is dead set on going this route (old outfielder guy) then Williams would be a preferred pick over Griffey. Their stats are comparable & they would probably get him dirt cheap (by baseball standards). Again, the 2 yr layoff is concerning.

Even though I'd like to see the Braves use their resources to develope the younger talent, maybe they should take a stab @ Williams. They were willing to do the same for Jr.. Looking @ Bernie's stats for 06, they weren't terribly bad & they were comparable to Griffeys. He would probably fare better facing National League pitching. The Braves could platoon him, giving him the rest he would need. He'd be a great mentor to the younger guys. There is the concern of the 2 yr layoff. It would be a crapshoot, but with the luck the Braves have had getting players during the off season it may be worth the gamble.

Hated to see the Braves let Saltalamacchia go in the trade to get Tex. Thought it was a mistake. Boston will be doing themselves a favor if they can aquire him.

With the kind of bat Chipper has had this year the thought of trading him will not cross their minds. He will retire in a Braves uni. Don't know the details of Francouer's contract (if he's available to be traded) but it would be interesting to see what the team could get out of him.

I had my doubts about Kelly earlier in the season but he's been really coming on here toward the end. I think he's a keeper. OK with Miller. Would hate to see Bennett go but probably a sacrifice that needs to be made. Throw Morton in there to boot.

If he's able to return,it would be a great thing. Like the idea of him coming out of the pen as a closer (or any other bull pen role for that matter). Braves lost a slew of one run games this year by not being able to shut down the other team.

The only reason to not hang it up for the season is to improve personal stats which is understandable. Plus he probably loves to play the game. Hope he doesn't create bigger injury probs by coming back. Despite the record, the Rangers still had a successful season. With Kinsler & Hamilton as a nucleus I see a team starting to gel. I expext them to be a force to reckon with next year.
