Remember where we live. The great Roberto Clemente had to die before he got respect, Roberto Alomar ( the best 2nd baseman the game has ever known) was bypassed on his first Hall of Fame try and what about Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez - the best catcher this game has ever known. He was allowed to retire without any fan fare. Do you see the common denominator? I do. The one thing they all have in common is that they are Latino and their first language is Spanish. Latin American men/woman have always been considered 2nd and even 3rd class citizens in this country and yes behind African Americans. This has always extended to professional sports. Nothing has changed!! How unfortunate!
