2 subpar goalies playing in the Finals. Goes to show that goaltending is not always a key ingredient in getting to play for the Cup. However, Chicago had a great team then. And did last year also- which leads to Emery's great record against the Rags- 'So What!' He had great defenses in front of him then. Can't factor that in now.

Yes, I believe you are right. Bobby Nystrom was 10 feet off-sides and that lame-@~~ Peeters gave up and let a back-breaking goal in. Not that I'm bitter after 30+ years.

In that time the only goalies they had were Lindbergh and Hexy. And all too briefly Beezer- even in his late prime was an outstanding technical goalie. But Hexy will take care of this in the near future. One way or another!

If owners want more goals, make the rinks bigger. Olympic hockey is so much better than NHL largely in part due to the amount of space the players have to work with. Owners won't cut into the high-priced rink-side seating, but that larger ice will make hockey much better.

Wellll, I guess if Garth Snow *had* a career as successful as Jiggy's that'd be true. But those billboards on Snow's shoulders were the epitome of the letter of the law. Note to goalies: Just get fat.

Hopefully for Phillys' sake, he's got a chilly margarita icing the hand. The folks in Philly want him healthy for the Flyers; less concern for Team Canada.

No. To paraphrase somebody, 'with that defense, you could put a trash can in the net and win the game.' Granted, he's improved, but no, not a top 10 goalie yet. Kane hardly deserved the Conn Smythe, that was sad. Rask was robbed on that one.

So glad Marty Broduer is still in goal, to ensure this clowns' hockey records are not saved for history.

It's amazing the individual talent on the pens team. Yet, Fleury has always been over-rated. Vokoun is a better technical goalie. His work in the playoffs for the Preds of yore prove that. I'm a Flyer-fan, and would much rather see Fleury in net. Lot of respect for the Isles, but Vokoun wins this series.

Good reply Slapshot. I agree but it feels a little like Barry Bonds' HR record. Need an asterisk to say that there's something else goin' on.
Those 1980 Flyers had the misfortune of running into the beginning of the Islanders dynasty in the Cup finals. And 35 games unbeaten was no match for that Isle's team.

Question for you all:
Would the Hawks be undefeated at this point if they were playing teams in the East?
My .02 is 'No'.
I don't hear any analysts bring this up at all. Trust your opinions.
Posted Friday January 11, 2013, About: Pens bend over backward to win over fans
The Pens are a super solid team; goaltending excepted. If Crosby had a little more class ( 'the Great One' or Messier) they'd be the 'Americas' Team' of Hockey. (Un)Fortunately, Americans put hockey right behind pro bowling on the list of sports to watch.
Pittsburgh is a great 'fan' city and Mario is still a rockstar. It's nice they're doing things for the fans, but agreed- this city will fill the arena faster than almost all others. I feel bad for the Preds and Yotes who did great last year building in marginal fan bases, only to stumble and lose momentum.

There has to be a better way to keep owners from making million-dollar mistakes than taking your pucks and going home. Perhaps their team should be moved to Brooklyn.
