It's amazing the individual talent on the pens team. Yet, Fleury has always been over-rated. Vokoun is a better technical goalie. His work in the playoffs for the Preds of yore prove that. I'm a Flyer-fan, and would much rather see Fleury in net. Lot of respect for the Isles, but Vokoun wins this series.
Good reply Slapshot. I agree but it feels a little like Barry Bonds' HR record. Need an asterisk to say that there's something else goin' on. Those 1980 Flyers had the misfortune of running into the beginning of the Islanders dynasty in the Cup finals. And 35 games unbeaten was no match for that Isle's team.
Question for you all: Would the Hawks be undefeated at this point if they were playing teams in the East? My .02 is 'No'. I don't hear any analysts bring this up at all. Trust your opinions.
The Pens are a super solid team; goaltending excepted. If Crosby had a little more class ( 'the Great One' or Messier) they'd be the 'Americas' Team' of Hockey. (Un)Fortunately, Americans put hockey right behind pro bowling on the list of sports to watch. Pittsburgh is a great 'fan' city and Mario is still a rockstar. It's nice they're doing things for the fans, but agreed- this city will fill the arena faster than almost all others. I feel bad for the Preds and Yotes who did great last year building in marginal fan bases, only to stumble and lose momentum.
There has to be a better way to keep owners from making million-dollar mistakes than taking your pucks and going home. Perhaps their team should be moved to Brooklyn.
